Praxis Core Analysis

Exam Requirements

The praxis core exam is very important and mandatory in order to get into a bachelor's

degree in education program in Nevada. These tests are mandatory because it measures academic

skills in reading, writing, and mathematics. It is advised to take these exams as soon as you finish

your core classes. Passing these tests shows that you know the knowledge to proceed into your

bachelor’s program. The passing score for the Praxis Core reading test is 156. The passing score

for the Praxis Core Writing exam is 162. As for the math section, the passing score is 150.

Exam Preparation

This exam is very important to move on forward to the next step in my future career. For

that reason, I believe it is very important to prepare for this type of exam. I heard a lot about the

exam from professors. I used a lot of websites that were made for the preparation of the praxis

core exam. I did a lot of practice exams and reviewed over testing strategies. I found that the

Khan Academy website was very helpful.

Exam Results

I took a mock praxis core exam and these are the scores I received. In math I scored in

the 68% range, this means I need a lot of improvement before I take the official Praxis Exam. In

writing I scored in the 65% range, this also means I need a lot of improvement. For the reading

section, I scored in the 30% range, meaning I need significant improvement in this subject as

well. Unfortunately, my results were not what I was expecting.

Future Exam Preparations

 According to my results on the practice exam it turns out I need to work on all three of

the subjects. I believe in the future for when I prepare for the real exam, I need to get more help

on a one on one situation. I know there’s also a book called Praxis Core for Dummies. I have

heard very good reviews of this book. I believe I have to put a certain amount of hours a week in

order to get the best results. For the mock exams, I study for about 8 hours for two weeks. I be-

lieve to prepare for the real exam, I must give myself a month of preparation. I must practice in

all subjects, the more practice the more I will understand the problems.
