I.PROBLEM: How do you dissolves substances?

II.MATERIALS: empty glass, refined sugar, tap water, cold water, hot water

III.PROCEDURE:
1. Fill the glass A with hot water and glass B with cold water.
2. Drop 1 teaspoon of sugar in each glass A and B. Do not stir. Observe what happens to the
sugar.
3. Stir the mixture in which the sugar did not dissolve. Observe what happens.
4. Half fill glass C and D with tap water.

TITLE: Mixtures I Use Daily

I.PROBLEM: What are the uses of mixtures?

II.MATERIALS: small jars, dishwashing liquid, powdered soap, and toilet bowl cleaner

III.PROCEDURE:
1. Put a tablespoon of dishwashing liquid, powdered soap and toilet bowl cleaner separately
in each jar. Stir.
2. Investigate the package of the materials. Read the ingredients in each materials.
3. Fill in the table below. Group the materials according to group of mixtures.

Tomato sauce, cologne, powdered soap, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, vinegar,


mayonnaise, any cough syrup, ointment, antibiotic, soy sauce, vitamin syrup

TITLE: Separating Mixtures

I.PROBLEM: How do you separate mixtures?

II.MATERIALS: salt solution, mixtures of sand and water, evaporating dish, mixtures of sand and
pebbles , small clean glass

III.PROCEDURE:
1. Place the salt solution in a hot surface. Heat the solution until the water evaporated.
2. Let the sand and water separate. Observe what happens.
3. Pick up the pebbles from the mixtures of sand and pebbles. Separate the pebbles.

1. What happened in the water in the salt solution when heated?

II.MATERIALS: different kinds of seeds, salt, water, spoon, glass of water

III.PROCEDURE:
1. Place the different kinds of seeds in a jar. Mix them
2. Label the jar as container A.
3. Fill in the other glass jar with water.
4. Dissolve a salt in the water. Mix the substance evenly until the salt completely dissolved.
5. Label the glass as container B.
