STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Name: Syed Nasir Abbas April 16, 2017 Civil Engineering (Specialization in Structures)

In recent years education is necessary for a person’s better learning and development. Without
education a person’s survival in a community is difficult. For the sake of knowledge a person has
to suffer a lot of difficulties and bear hardships to achieve better learning because without facing
difficulties a person cannot achieve better learning and education. Knowledge obtained after
facing difficulties can enable a person to withstand in such a scenario where problems come
during his personal and professional life but he knows that how to tackle with these problems.

I have done graduation in Civil Engineering from university of Engineering and Technology
Lahore. Upon completion of my BSc Civil Engineering I did my Masters in Structural
Engineering also from university of Engineering and Technology Lahore. My areas of interest
are Structural Engineering, Strengthening and Rehabilitation of Civil Engineering Structures,
Civil Engineering Materials, Testing Different Properties of Concrete and water resource
engineering. I wish to complete my further studies in any one area mentioned above.

My MSc research title is “Flexural Capacity of Brick – FRP composite”. I have supervised
almost 10 research thesis at BSc Engineering and BS Engineering Technology level. I have
strong presentation skills also and won a presentation competition held at U.E.T Lahore in 2011.

I had served as Lab Engineer and Lecturer at University of Lahore, Lahore. Currently I am
working as Assistant Professor Civil at College of Engineering & Technology, University of
Sargodha. I have total six year teaching experience at BS level in Pakistan. I have an additional
charge of Incharge Civil Engineering department College of Engineering and Technology,
University of Sargodha since November 2016.

It is my goal to expertise my education in teaching field for better learning of my. Achievement
of opportunity of research and proper understanding of ideas in the field of civil engineering will
help me to progress in a better way.
