Universal Design for Learning (UDL): The video supports ESL and ELL students and families by allowing home
access to practice English language. The video can be viewed as many times as needed which allows
opportunities to gain deeper understanding of the content. A flipped classroom is supported through these
features for reinforcement and enrichment.

Lesson idea implementation: The BrainPop video will be used to introduce money. The teacher will visually
show students the penny, dime, nickel, quarter, and half dollar with pictures and real coins. An anchor chart
with the coins and it’s content can be visually displayed and discussed as a whole group.

After watching the video, students will sort coins in small group activity. Students will be guided to create a
Power Point movie on the coins along with a printed format for a self-published book. The book can be added
to the class library and available for check-out to take home.

Reflective Practice: Extending this project can involve sharing the video with a classroom app such as Dojo to
share with parents, staff, and students at the school. Students could visit other classroom libraries to check
out a book to read along with while watching the video.
