ATTENDANCE MONITORING SYSTEM)

PURPOSE

This study determined the effects of Project e-AMS to the learners of Crecencia Drusila

Lopez Senior High School. The aim of Project e-AMS is to reduce absenteeism by monitoring the

time-in and time-out of each learner and reporting the absenteeism of each learner to their parents

or guardians using SMS (short messaging system).

DESIGN /METHODOLOGY/APPROACH

The descriptive-survey method was used in this study. The researchers used online

questionnaires, observations, interviews and teacher’s attendance reports for this study. The

respondents were learners of Crecencia Drusila Lopez Senior High School during the academic

year 2019-2020. Online survey-questionnaires were utilized to obtain learners’ and parents’

perceptions. Respondents’ responses were summarized as to show the effectiveness of Project e-

AMS (Electronic Absenteeism Monitoring System).

FINDINGS

Results revealed that learners are encouraged to use the E-AMS because they are aware

that their presence in is monitored. They are convinced that they this technology will teach them

be more disciplined in terms of absenteeism. They know that with use of the system, they don’t

want to be absent. Based on the online surveys, Project e-AMS: (1) develop discipline to the
 learner; (2) attendance will be monitored easily; (3) refrain students from having a record of absent

in school (4) remind the learners that they have to be in school on time. From the survey, 100% of

the learners are convince that the system will be useful to them.

RESEARCH LIMITATIONS/IMPLICATIONS

Project e-AMS will automatically records that absent of the learner regardless of its excuses

like sickness or outside of school activities. It does not record the learners who are excuses from

classes. Because it is electronic, it will not be used if there is a brownout in the school premise. The

effectiveness of the project results to the reducing of absenteeism that will result to the meeting of the

competencies needed by the learner day by day. This will lessen dropouts and failed grades.

ORIGINALITY/VALUE

The effectiveness of this project will benefit the learners, teachers and principal of

Crecencia Drusila Lopez Senior High School. It will also benefit other school is the Division of

San Pablo City.
