METHODOLOGY
The study used a correlational research design and survey questionnaires as
data-gathering instruments to assess the underlying effect of TikTok in building self-
confidence among Grade 12 students under Humanities and Social Science
students in Arellano University Elisa Esguerra Campus.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Correlational research is a research method used to examine the relationship
between two or more variables. It is often used in social sciences, psychology, and
other fields to investigate the extent to which changes in one variable are associated
with changes in another variable. Correlational research does not establish
causation between variables but can identify the strength and direction of the
relationship between them. For example, a correlational study could look at the
relationship between study habits and academic performance. By measuring both
variables in a group of students, the researcher could determine whether there is a
positive correlation (higher studying habits are associated with higher academic
performance), a negative correlation (lower studying habits are associated with
higher academic performance), or no correlation (studying habits and academic
performance are unrelated). Correlational research can be useful in identifying
potential factors that may be related to a specific outcome or behavior, but it cannot
establish causation. Therefore, it is often used in conjunction with other research
methods, such as experimental research, to gain a deeper understanding of the
relationship between variables.

DATA GATHERING PROCEDURE

The researchers used survey questionnaires to determine the significance of
the TikTok application on the confidence of Grade 12 students in Cluster 1, under
Humanities and Social Sciences. The questionnaire will be designed to measure the
level of confidence before and after using TikTok and other factors that may
influence confidence levels such as age, gender, and frequency of app usage. The
questionnaire will use closed-ended questions that allow respondents to select from

a predefined set of responses. The researchers will distribute the survey
questionnaires to the presidents of each section and distribute them to their fellow
classmates. Once the questionnaire has been answered, the researcher will collect
the questionnaires containing the data needed. Since the research is quantitative,
purposive sampling was used to select participants based on specific criteria and
target the population of interest.

SAMPLING PROCEDURE
Purposive sampling was used which allowed the researchers to focus on
particular experiences and behaviors of the selected participants, leading to more
accurate conclusions. The chosen respondents should be TikTok users that are
aware of how the app affects their confidence in terms of physical appearance and
social skills.

RESEARCH INSTRUMENTS OR TOOLS

The researchers will use a survey questionnaire which is a method of collecting
data through an instrument that contains a series of questions aligned with the
statement of the problem along with a 5-point Likert scale to know the degree to
which respondents agree to the research statements on the questionnaire. Because
Likert Scale questions use a scale, people are not forced to express an either-or
opinion, but rather have the option of remaining neutral. And once all responses
have been received, it is very easy to analyze them (smart survey, 2023).

PROVIDE SAMPLE INSTRUMENTS OR TOOLS

This study used survey questionnaires to determine whether TikTok affects
HUMSS students' self-confidence. The information gathered from the responses will
be statistically treated in order to determine the significant relationship between the
two variables.
