METHODOLOGY
The study used a correlational research design and survey questionnaires as
data-gathering instruments to assess the underlying effect of TikTok in building self-
confidence among Grade 12 students under Humanities and Social Science
students in Arellano University Elisa Esguerra Campus.
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Correlational research is a research method used to examine the relationship
between two or more variables. It is often used in social sciences, psychology, and
other fields to investigate the extent to which changes in one variable are associated
with changes in another variable. Correlational research does not establish
causation between variables but can identify the strength and direction of the
relationship between them. For example, a correlational study could look at the
relationship between study habits and academic performance. By measuring both
variables in a group of students, the researcher could determine whether there is a
positive correlation (higher studying habits are associated with higher academic
performance), a negative correlation (lower studying habits are associated with
higher academic performance), or no correlation (studying habits and academic
performance are unrelated). Correlational research can be useful in identifying
potential factors that may be related to a specific outcome or behavior, but it cannot
establish causation. Therefore, it is often used in conjunction with other research
methods, such as experimental research, to gain a deeper understanding of the
relationship between variables.
SAMPLING PROCEDURE
Purposive sampling was used which allowed the researchers to focus on
particular experiences and behaviors of the selected participants, leading to more
accurate conclusions. The chosen respondents should be TikTok users that are
aware of how the app affects their confidence in terms of physical appearance and
social skills.
