The Summer Heat

Summer has become very hot. We used to love summer. We used to

play outside in the sun. Now, it is difficult to enjoy because of the scorching
heat. Every time we go out, we have to bring an umbrella. We have to use
sun blocks to avoid sunburns. Sometimes, we avoid going out at all. The
heat has become unbearable.

The heat has become unbearable that even mother Gaia could no
longer keep up. What used to be fertile lands has become dry. The
vegetations turned brown. The river and other bodies of water dried up.
Mother earth is now having some difficulty in sustaining life.

Now, our livelihoods are in peril. The once bountiful harvests that we
enjoyed are now gone. Farmers could no longer farm their lands because
there is no nourishment from the soil. Fishermen could no longer fish
because there are no more bodies of water to fish from. If this will go on,
livelihoods will be lost and many of us will starve.

We cannot allow our people to starve to death. We have to do

something. We must find ways to battle the unyielding heat of the sun and
make it bearable for us to walk and to work. If we don’t do something, all
will be lost. So do something. Make an initiative. Our lives depends on the
actions we take.
