ABSTRACT

According to the numbers acquired by Rappler from the PNP's Directorate for
Investigation and Detective Management (DIDM), there was a total of 100,668 index crimes
recorded from January to November 2017. This includes the 46,232 thefts, 5,486 motorcycle
carnapping, and Home Burglary or also known as Akyat Bahay in a Philippine term. The top five
most popular targets for a burglar are the Cash, Gadgets such as Laptops, iPods and smartphones,
Electronics, Gold, and Jewelry. (Talabong, 2017).

In this case, the researchers find a solution through and by the following: a.) The
functions of the Door lock remote control. b.) Other benefits of this study aside from the safety
of the people. c.)This study helps the people prevent this crime. d.) The Door lock Remote
control prevents home burglary. e.) The Door lock Remote control works effectively. We
propose this project to our fellow Gingoognons.

INTRODUCTION

Background of the Study

There are several crime scenes that are reported on the on television, news
broadcast on the Radio, published in the Newspapers and heard somewhere that warned people
to prepare themselves for their own safety and their family. According to Amber Gilbert, The
most common crime committed around the world is theft. This is a crime against the property so
it is not as violent as robbery. But they essentially mean the same thing. Theft is usually
triggered by a person’s economic condition. It comes in different types, like motor vehicle theft,
which is very common in the United States. Elsewhere, theft committed through home or office
invasion is rather widespread. However, in this research study, the main target of the researchers
is the burglary which is known in the Philippines as akyat-bahay. A burglary was defined by Sir
Matthew Hale at the common-law as the breaking and entering the house of another in the night
time, with intent to commit a felony therein, whether the felony is actually committed or not.

Almost 30% of burglars enter a home through an unlocked door or window. A

surprising number of burglars gain access to homes through open or unlocked entrances. First-
floor windows and doors are especially well-liked by burglars—particularly when a burglar can
be concealed behind overgrown vegetation. An astonishing 34% of burglars enter through the
front door whether they walk through an open front door or kick in a locked one, burglars aren’t
shy about using home’s primary entry point (Chianis,A., 2018). There are several safety tips
against burglars to prevent this crime yet, some of the burglars are too professional and
knowledgeable in their doing and some of them are fool and failed to do so, that’s why the
researchers came up with this helpful idea for the people’s safeties against the burglars,
murderers and other kinds of invasion.

Door lock: Alternative CD ROM Remote Control is an electric Door lock with a
remote control from the remote-controlled Game-Car. There are electronic door locking systems
available out there, but most of them are pretty expensive. No doubt, the price is high because
the manufacturer demands the value of its brand name and the quality it offers (Deccan
Chronicle, 2016). However, the researchers can invest a simple yet trustworthy product for home
and rooms using an old remote control car for the safety of everyone.
Statement of the Problem
According to the latest FBI Uniform Crime Reporting Statistics, property crime rates
including burglary, larceny, and motor vehicle theft - have seen a significant decline in the last
few years: The 2015 property crime rate was 14.4% less than the 2011 estimate and 25.7% less
than the 2006 estimate. The burglar’s common point of entry is the front door which rate is 34%
while the less point of entry of the burglars, is somewhere on the second floor which rate is 2%.
The top five most popular targets for a burglar are the Cash, Gadgets such as Laptops, iPods, and
Smartphone’s, Electronics, Gold, and Jewelry. In this case, the researchers find a solution through
this study which aims to answer the following questions:

a) What are the functions of the Electronic door lock remote control?
b) What are the other benefits of this study aside from the safety of the people?
c) How can the Electronic door lock prevent home burglary?

Objectives of the Study

In this generation, crimes have been well-known in the society specifically, the
burglary or the "Akyat-Bahay" that frightens most of the homeowners. The objective of this
study is to develop a remote-controlled door lock to help the people ensure their safety who want
to be secure in their homes especially when they are alone. It can also be attached to the room of
a person who need privacy or a room for the important files, things and other documents are
placed. was placed. The researchers also want to develop this study to help the people be
prepared themselves in times of unexpected criminal occurrences.

Scope and Limitations

For Interior use in your home only. This product will only extent the doors and windows
of the house and also, to a person’s room who want to have its own privacy or a room where the
important files are placed. This product will only cover the doors and windows. The Electric
remote-control door lock will still be broken when it is opened with force but the product will
give signals to the owner which will give opportunity to call the police. However, the electric
remote-control will detect 15-20 meters away only.
Significance of the Study
The findings of this study will redound to the benefit of society specialy Gingoognon’s in
Gingoog City considering that burglary can also have a possibility of having unintentional
physical contact between the burglars and the homeowner. The researchers build up with this
idea for the people’s own safety against burglars, murderers, and other criminals. Through by the

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

Radio controlled (or R/C) cars are battery/gas-powered model cars or trucks that can
be controlled from a distance using a specialized transmitter or remote. The term "R/C" has been
used to mean both "remote controlled" and "radio controlled", where "remote controlled"
includes vehicles that are connected to their controller by a wire, but common use of "R/C" today
usually refers to vehicles controlled by a radio-frequency link. (Sarkar, T. K. (2006). Google.
Retrieved from History of wireless: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radio_control).

Power door locks (also known as electric door locks or central locking) allow the
driver or front passenger to simultaneously lock or unlock all the doors of an automobile or
truck, by pressing a button or flipping a switch.

The term remote keyless system (RKS), also called keyless entry or remote central
locking, refers to a lock that uses an electronic remote control as a key which is activated by a
handheld device or automatically by proximity. (Job, 2012)

Door is a portable obstacle that can be opened up and closed. The combination
between tool of system remote control and door will produce one security system. This project
will focused the design of the safety system for house especially house door. This system is
constitute from the extension of remote control device to main system as a signal recipient from
it and activate or deactivate the key lock system at the door (MohdFaizal bin zaini, 2010).

Various control systems have been designed over the years to prevent access to
unauthorized user. The main aim for providing locks for our home, school, office, and building is
for security of our lives and property. It is therefore important to have convenient way of
achieving this goal. Automatic door system has become a standard feature on many different
types of buildings and homes. And they are becoming popular every day to develop effective
electronic devices which provide security. Home security has been a major issue because of the
increase in crime rate and everybody wants to take proper action to prevent unauthorized
user(IJEDR, 2016).
Chapter 3
METHODOLOGY

In this system we propose, we are using SDLC model as a tool in order to help our
hardware development reliable and easy. We choose this method as one of our materials because
this is what we intend to use in the development of this electronic remote-controlled door lock.
The method used in gathering data and information was conducted by using it personally to
gather further important information through asking question to the user.

3.1 Conceptual Framework

The concept of portable security is the main concept of this study. This is anchored to the
concept that sees security as something we can have assurance to the situation where we are
resting in our home.
