LESSON PLAN

SCIENCE 10
FEBRUARY 4, 2019
I- OBJECTIVES
At the end of the class the student will be able to:
a. Distinguish homologous structure from analogous structure.
b. Explain the relevance of comparative anatomy.
c. Compare the stages of embryonic development of different organism.
II- SUBJECT MATTER
a. Topic: Hint of evolution from comparative anatomy
b. Reference: Book of Science-10, page: 309-312
c. Material: Book of Science-10, meta cards, printed words and activity sheets.
III- PROCEDURE
a. Routine activity
- Class room management
- Prayer
- Attendance
b. Pre-assessment
1. Homologous have the same origin but different function. Which of the
following animals was belong to homologous structure?
a. Bird and dog c. Bird and butterfly
b. Bird and bat d. Bat and whale
2. Analogous structures have similar function but different origin. Which of
the following animals belong to analogous structures?
a. Bird and dog c. Bird and butterfly
b. Bird and bat d. Bird and whale
c. Motivation
The teacher will ask some questions to the students.
1. We the Filipinos belong to what race?
2. Where are we came from? Is it true that we came from the ape? Why did
you say so?
d. Review of past lesson
The teacher will ask some question to review their past lesson.
e. Lesson proper
The teacher and students will discuss the lesson.
“ In our health subject we discussed health professional, they are all physicians
but they have different function like the homologous they have the same
origin but have different functions. And the physicians are all doctors intended
for health problems but they have different specialization there are dentist,
surgeon, dermatologist and others like the analogous they have similar
function their wings are intended for flying but they have different origin.
f. Valuing
The teacher will ask the students why do we need to distinguish the structure
of homologous to analogous?
g. Generalization
The teacher will ask one student to summarize the lesson that have discussed
a while ago.
h. Activity
The teacher will group the students into two groups. The students will be given
scrabble printed words and every group will arrange it to each proper place.
While doing the activity the teacher will supervised the students.
i. Analysis
The teacher will check the given activity.
j. Abstraction
The teacher will show a picture of stages of embryonic development.
k. Application
1. In what stage of development of the organisms show similarities?
2. In stage 3, identify the structure, how are they similar and how are they
different to each other?
3. Can embryonic development be an evidence that evolution takes?
IV- EVALUATION
The teacher will give an individual activity entitled “AHA! Analogous!
Homologous!” in which the students will be given an activity sheet.
V- ASSIGNMENT
In one whole sheet of paper write your experience that sometime you feel out of place or
not belong to the group.
