Vihar

Work Report- Alumni Incubator

Program

-Prakhar Saxena
Vision

My vision is to provide high-quality education to the

students of J II block -Sangam Vihar that will enable
them to be contributing members of the society. The
schools will nurture and educate students who are
confident, competent communicators, problem solvers,
creative thinkers and aware of their surroundings and
the outer world.
4D-Strategy

The endeavour is to facilitate change in the two low income

private schools of J-II block by starting interventions across
four fronts. External implementation partners would
implement projects. The learning outcome would be measured
by a year-end showcase of the children in the community
centre.

Challenges

Finding people to work with you for getting nothing in return is difficult.
Pro-Bono Everyone has different expectations and demands, to keep up with that
and having them believe in your vision is taxing sometimes

The organisations who are willing to work on a pro-bono basis need

volunteers and its difficult to procure invested volunteers because the
Volunteers geography and location of the schools are far inside and the commute to
the place of work is tough

The rate at which the work is done in the community is slow because
forming partnership from scratch requires multiple meetings, discussions
Pace and schools visits. Also the organisations/ individuals I am working with
aren’t that full time invested in my project as I am so to make this
project their priority is challenging.

Learnings

NO - Learning to say ‘no’ was the most difficult thing to me. I have
wasted a lot of time in my initial months in doing things which I shouldn’t
have like trying to do work outside of my purview so as to build
relationships. Now, I have learned to say no and this has helped me pace
up my work.

Aggregation- While being six months into this role, I have started to
realise the power of aggregation and how I am the initiator and the
connector. A leader at the backend who make others execute his/her
vision.
