Background/Context

As an offshoot of Brigada Eskwela, World Vision Development

Foundation in partnership with the Department of Education
through External Partnerships Service established the project
called “BRIGADA PAGBASA”.

BRIGADA PAGBASA, as a form of Brigada Eskwela initiative, is an

after – school reading program that envisions to bring together
≈ DepEd partners, experts, change makers, policymakers, and other
stakeholders across all sectors from international and local agencies
and organizations in the public and private sectors to form
collaborations to help all learners read and become functionally
literate.

This will synergize efforts and resources to address education-

related challenges on ensuring that all basic education students
become functionally literate. It will also create opportunities for all
stakeholders to contribute possible solutions to the current gaps in
education in the country and equip learners with 21st century skills.
