A Narrative Report on Brigada Eskwela

The school is an institution that is responsible in molding the learners to become

a responsible individual in the society. This is where one created into a better person,
who will be an emblem of the kind of learning center where one is raised.

The multifarious concern of the school demands working with others to

accomplish designed tasks and objectives. These would need dedicated school
personnel, stakeholders, cooperative parents, accountable community, and innovative
learners.

Believing that the community cannot stand without a school, and likewise the
school cannot stand itself without the community, we greatly believed that the school is
the face of the barangay. Thus, all the people in the community volunteered to support.

Relative to the DepEd Memorandum as of this school year that all public
elementary and secondary schools nationwide implemented the Brigada Eskwela for
the incoming school year 2021 - 2022 with the Theme: “Bayanihan para sa Paaralan.”
The said activity is a school maintenance that engaged all education stakeholders to
contribute their time, entrusting that public school facilities are set for the forthcoming
school opening. But this year’s Brigada Eskwela is a challenging one for the whole
department. Amidst the pandemic that the whole world is experiencing, following the
different health protocols imposed by the government has been taken into consideration
by both the department and its stakeholders.

Program of activities were divided into three essential stages: I. Pre-

implementation Stage which includes organization of the Brigada Eskwela committees,
assessment of physical facilities and maintenance needs of school, advocacy and
social marketing, resource mobilization and forming up of activities for the actual
Brigada Eskwela week; II. Implementing Stage that deals with the opening program,
briefing of working teams, actual implementation of schoolwork plan recording of daily
accomplishments and final inspection; III. Post Implementation Stage that refers to the
preparation of final consolidated school accomplishment reports and submission to
Division Office a portfolio with pictorials.

The Kick-off has been done virtually since we are not allowed to hold mass
gathering due to the current situation we are facing.

Despite the situation that we have, stakeholders/partners still show their care
and support towards the school. Health protocols required by the government were
observed in serving their hours, helping the school during the implementation stage of
the Brigada Eskwela.

Because mass gathering is not allowed, stakeholders come to school according

to their scheduled date. This to make sure that social distancing will be observed. They
come to school wearing face mask. Before entering the school, body temperature was
taken. They are asked to step on the footbath and asked to wash hands at the washing
area located near the school gate. This has been implemented for everyone to be able
to follow the protocols and to ensure their safety as well as the school personnel’s’
safety.

Although, there is a decrease of manpower in this year’s Brigada Eskwela but

there is an increase of donations, may it be in cash or in kind coming from the
stakeholders. Both the stakeholders/partners and the schoolwork hand in hand to make
things work for the benefit of the learners. Both parties worked to sustain the mode of
delivery in learning. Lots of stakeholders shared donations of boxes of bond papers for
school’s module printing.
Thus, the school promotes the project “Komunidad Ko, sa Pagbasa Kaabag Ko”
that will serve as a platform to synergize efforts and resources to address education-
related challenges especially in literacy and numeracy. The participants in this project
are being oriented during the Brigada Pagbasa Orientation for the participants that are
expected to: comprehend its purpose and goal, identify learners who will attend with the
aid of the EGRA/Phil.-IRI results, identify the parents and para teachers who will
participate, and address the literacy learning gaps of elementary learners.
The project caters with these phases: I. Target Outputs that refers to number of
learners, trained parents and volunteers and locally relevant materials; II. Target
Outcome that deals with improved reading level of learners; III. Disaggregated Data of
Volunteers; IV. Type of Volunteers; V. Major Partners refers to list of organizations
supporting Brigada Pagbasa; and VI. Brigada Pagbasa Generated Resources.
This year’s Brigada Eskwela is really a success for us since everyone worked
hard to pull everything off and able to think out of the box to come up a good plan suited
for the current situation.

Indeed, the spirit camaraderie and solidarity were reflected, and this year’s
theme has been observed. All thanks to everyone who have greatly involved in this
program and to our Almighty God who’s been with us guiding to make suitable
decisions during this pandemic and keeping us from harm.

A Narrative Accomplishment Report on Brigada Pagbasa Program:

“Komunidad Ko, Sa Pagbasa Kaabag Ko”

The school is an institution that is responsible in molding the learners to become

a responsible individual in the society. This is where one created into a better person,
who will be an emblem of the kind of learning center where one is raised.
Believing that the community cannot stand without a school, and likewise the
school cannot stand itself without the community, we greatly believed that the school is
the face of the barangay. Thus, all the people in the community even those children
who were not studying in the school, volunteered to support the said program.

In response to intensify the advocacy for reading under the Hamon: Bawat Bata
Bumabasa issued under DepEd Memorandum No. 173, s. 2019, the school has
committed to make every learner a reader by engaging partners and stakeholders to
promote the culture of reading, the Brigada Pagbasa, as part of the Brigada Eskwela, is
an after-school reading program that envisions bringing together education partners
and experts to help all learners read and become functionally literate.
Thus, the school promotes the project “Komunidad Ko, sa Pagbasa Kaabag
Ko” that will serve as a platform to synergize efforts and resources to address
education-related challenges especially in literacy and numeracy. The participants in
this project are being oriented during the Brigada Pagbasa Orientation for the
participants that are expected to: comprehend its purpose and goal, identify learners
who will attend with the aid of the EGRA/Phil.-IRI results, identify the parents and para
teachers who will participate, and address the literacy learning gaps of elementary
learners.

The project caters with these phases: an orientation that refers to giving
information for the participants to have an overview of the project; planning that deals
with an action plan; preparation of the results in EGRA/Phil-IRI as bases for the
implementation of the project; production of instructional materials that refers in the
making of materials to be used in the implementation; launching of the project that will
introduce to the community; distribution of materials that refers to giving of reading
materials to para teachers and learners; implementation that deals with the conduct of
the project by learning reading of the learners through the para teachers; monitoring
through recorded attendance, and assessment through oral reading verification.

Indeed, the spirit of camaraderie and solidarity were reflected. All thanks to
everyone who have greatly involved in this program and to our Almighty God who has
been with us guiding to make effective strategies for reading suitable for the learners.
