OBJECTIVES:
At the end of this experiment, the students are expected to:
 know the effect of connecting resistors in series
 know how to determine the total resistance of series connected resistors
 know the effect of connecting resistors in parallel
 know how to determine the total resistance of parallel connected resistors

1pc 120 kΩ resistor, ¼ W
1pc 150 kΩ resistor, ¼ W
1pc 680 kΩ resistor, ¼ W
2pcs 100 Ω resistor, ¼ W
2pcs 150 Ω resistor, ¼ W
2pcs 1 kΩ resistor, ¼ W
3pcs 300 Ω resistor, ¼ W

PROCEDURES:
NOTE: Please observe safety precautions and proper handling while conducting the laboratory
experiment. This experiment is to be performed under an instructor’s supervision.

1. Construct the circuit of Figure 1 using the breadboard. Use the resistance values indicated in
Table 1. Measure the series equivalent resistance Rac, Rbd, and Rad. Record the results in
Table 1.

2. Compute the corresponding series equivalent resistance and record the results in Table 1.
3. Compute the percentage error of the measured value and the computed value in Table 1.
