1.0 LEARNING OUTCOMES

In the end of the experiment, student should be able to:-

• Assemble DC circuit consisting of a voltage source and several resistors.
• Measure current in DC circuit and verify Ohm’s law by direct measurement.
• To measure the values of voltage and current in a series circuit and verify voltage divider by
direct measurement.
• To measure the values of voltage and current in a parallel circuit and verify current divider
by direct measurement.

3.0 SYNOPSIS & THEORY

Please refer lecture notes and reference books.

4.0 PROCEDURE

Part 1: Ohm’s law

1. Assemble 10kΩ resistor on a breadboard.

2. Measure the value of the resistor and record in Table 1.1.

20kΩ

3. With power supply off, assemble the circuit as in Figure 1.1. Make sure the multimeter
probe using correct polarity so that they indicate positive or upscale values.

4. Turn on the power supply and set the supply voltage to 2V. Then record the current value.
5. Repeat step 4 for other value of voltage and the current value in Table 1.2.

5.0 RESULTS & DISCUSSION

1. Based on Table 1.2, shows graphically that I and V are directly proportional.

2. Is the result in Table 1.3 and Table 1.4 able to prove the current divider and voltage
divider theory? Explain.
3. Prove that Vsupply = Vtotal voltage drop for the circuit shown in Figure 1.3 by using result in
Table 1.4.
