This document describes the site monitoring unit SMU in terms of its hardware, liquid crystal
display (LCD), web user interface (WebUI), common operations, remote management, and
features.
This document describes all the functions of the SMU. Some functions are implemented by
hardware (such as the DC meter and battery cell detector). If the corresponding hardware is
not connected to the SMU, the function is not available.
Figures in this manual are for reference only.

3 User Interfaces
3.1 LCD
3.1.1 Setup Wizard
After the SMU is powered on for the first time, the Setup Wizard page is displayed, as
shown in the following figure.
When the monitoring unit is running properly, choose the following menus to select a
language.
3.1.4 Password
When visiting Setting Wizard, Parameters Settings, Running Control, and Site
Maintenance on the LCD, enter the preset password 000001.
The standby screen is displayed if no button is pressed within 1 minute on any screen.
On the standby screen, you can press , , and to enter the version information
screen, basic information screen, and main menu screen respectively, as shown in the
following figure.
Main menu include active alarm, running information, setting wizard, parameters settings,
running control, and site maintain.
3.2 WebUI
3.2.1 Connecting a Communications Cable
Procedure
Step 1 Preparing the Operating Environment, see C.1 How Do I Prepare the WebUI Operating
Environment?.
Step 2 Connect the FE port on the SMU by using a network cable, as shown in Figure 3-4.

The preset user names include admin, engineer, and operator, and the preset password is Changeme.
The user names are intended for administrators, engineers, and operators respectively.
Change the preset password when you first log in to ensure system security. The method about how to
change the password, see 5.2.4 Changing a User Password.

Procedure
Step 1 Install the LIVE APP.
1. Access Google Play app store (https://play.google.com/store) and search for LIVE.
2. Install the LIVE APP after downloading it.
3. The LIVE APP icon appears on the home screen of the mobile phone when the
installation is complete.
Step 2 Register user information.
1. Tap the LIVE icon to access the LIVE APP user registration screen.
The preset user name for LIVE APP login is admin, and the preset password is
Changeme.
The mobile phone should be within 10 m away from the SMU.
1. On the LIVE APP login screen, choose WIFI connection in Select a connection
method.
2. Search for the site WIFI signal and enter the WIFI password.
3. After the WIFI connection is set up, return to the login screen and enter the correct user
name and password.
4. Tap Login, access Main Menu, and view the system running information.

performance is worse than the requirements, communication interruption may happen.

Before setting SNMP parameters, obtain the information listed in Table 4-10 from the SNMP
NMS.

5 Common Tasks
The file name should have less than 80 characters, cannot start with fault, and cannot contain single or
double quotation marks, spaces, or the following special characters:< \ > | ; $ & ` ( ) %
The USB flash drive and file have been scanned to ensure that they are not infected with
viruses.
Context
You can copy site configuration parameters from the LCD or WebUI to a USB flash drive to
rapidly set up other sites.
Export configuration parameters from the LCD to a USB flash drive: On the LCD, choose Site
Maintenance > Export File to USB to export the configurations of the current operating system
into a configuration file and save the file in a USB flash drive.
For details about how to export configuration parameters from the WebUI to a USB flash drive, see
5.2.1 Backing Up the Current Settings.
Procedure
Step 1 Insert the USB flash drive into the SMU USB port. The LCD displays the Site Maintenance
screen.
When visiting Site Maintenance on the LCD, enter the preset password 000001.
Step 3 Select the upgrade or configuration file stored in the root directory of the USB flash drive, and
Step 4 Select YES and tap . Config Processing is displayed, indicating that upgrade or data
configuration is in progress.
Step 5 After the upgrade or configuration is complete, Rebooting in 15s is displayed. The SMU will
restart 15 seconds later.
Step 6 After the restart is complete, remove the USB flash drive.

Incorrectly setting basic battery parameters affects the battery charge and discharge
management and reduces the battery lifespan.
Procedure
Step 1 Set the battery type.
For example:
If battery routes 1 and 2 are respectively connected to a battery string (each battery string consists of four 12
V, 150 Ah batteries in series), set Battery 1 Connected and Battery 2 Connected to Yes and others to No,
and set Single-String Cap. to 150 Ah.
If battery route 1 is connected to two battery strings in parallel (each battery string consists of four 12 V,
150 Ah batteries in series), set Battery 1 Connected to Yes and others to No, and set Single-String Cap. to
300 Ah.

When importing the backup configuration file, ensure that the system types of the exported
and imported configuration files are consistent.
After factory defaults are restored, all parameter values change to their default factory values.
You are advised to back up the current settings before restoring factory defaults.
Procedure
Step 1 Log in to the WebUI and choose Maintenance > User Management. The user management
page is displayed.
Step 2 Select the user whose password needs to be changed and click Modify. The dialog box for
modifying user information is displayed.
Step 3 Select Change Password, set New Password and Confirm Password, and click Confirm.
The Recertification dialog box is displayed.
The administrator needs to set Old Password only when changing the administrator's own password.
The password must consist of at least two of the following types: digits, uppercase letters,
lowercase letters, and special characters (! @ * - _ ? { } = /).
The password must be different from the previous two passwords.
The password must be different from the user name or its reverse.
Step 4 Set Password of Current Login User and click Submit.

6 Hardware Replacement
Procedure
Step 1 Push the locking latch on the SMU to the left and pull out the handle.
Step 2 Take the SMU out of the slot, as shown in Figure 6-1.
Step 3 Place the new SMU at the entry to the appropriate slot in the monitoring unit subrack, and
push the SMU until its front panel aligns with the front panel of the monitoring unit subrack.
Step 4 Push the handle in position and push the locking latch to the right to lock the handle, as shown
in Figure 6-2.

Follow-up Procedure
After replacing the SMU, the parameters are restored to factory defaults. You need to reset the
parameters based on site requirements.
Procedure
Step 1 Connect the ground cable for the ESD wrist strap, and put on the ESD wrist strap and ESD
gloves.
Step 2 Disconnect the communications cable from the SMU02B1 panel.
Step 3 Push the locking latch leftwards.
Step 4 Pull the handle outwards and remove the SMU02B1, as shown in Figure 6-3.
Step 5 Take off the SD card from the side of the SMU02B1.
If no SD is installed, go to Step 7.
Follow-up Procedure
After replacing the SMU02B1, the parameters are restored to factory defaults. You need to
reset the parameters based on site requirements.
Procedure
Step 1 Connect the ground cable to the ESD wrist strap, and put on the ESD wrist strap and ESD
gloves.
Step 2 Record the position of signal cables connected to the UIM02C panel, and then disconnect the
signal cables.
Step 3 Unscrew and take out the UIM02C.
Step 4 Disconnect the –48 V power cable from the UIM02C board.
Step 5 Record the connection positions of all cables including cables for internal and external
circulation fans and flat cables on the UIM02C board, and then disconnect the cables.
Step 6 Remove the UIM02C board.
Follow-up Procedure
Pack the removed component and have it sent to the local Huawei warehouse.
Procedure
Step 1 Connect the ground cable to the ESD wrist strap, and put on the ESD wrist strap and ESD
gloves.
Step 2 Record the connection positions of cables on the NIM02D panel and disconnect the cables.
Step 3 Loosen the screws on both sides of the UIM02C panel and pull out the UIM02C.
Step 4 Disconnect the power cables between the NIM02D board and the J1 port on the UIM02C.
Step 5 Unscrew the NIM02D from the UIM03D board and take out the UIM02C board.
Step 6 Push the new NIM02D board in place and secure it with holes aligned.
Step 7 Connect power cables between the power port on the NIM02D board and the J1 port on the
UIM02C.

Step 8 Push the UIM02C into the subrack until its front panel is flush with that of the monitoring
unit subrack.
Step 9 Reconnect the cables to the new NIM02D panel based on the recorded information.
Step 10 Disconnect the ground cable from the ESD wrist strap, and remove the ESD wrist strap and
ESD gloves.

Follow-up Procedure
Pack the removed component and have it sent to the local Huawei warehouse.
Procedure
Step 1 Connect the ground cable for the ESD wrist strap, and put on the ESD wrist strap and ESD
gloves.
Step 2 Record the positions where signal cables connect to the NIM01C panel, and then disconnect
the signal cables.
Step 3 Loosen the screws on both sides of the NIM01C panel.
Step 4 Pull the handle rightwards to remove the NIM01C, as shown in Figure 6-10.
Step 5 Remove the SIM card from the SIM card slot, and insert a new NIM01C. Skip this step if no
SIM card is installed.
Step 6 Place the new NIM01C at the entry to the appropriate slot in the monitoring unit subrack, and
push the NIM01C until its front panel is in the same plane the front panel of the monitoring
unit subrack.
Step 7 Push the handle inwards until it is engaged, and then tighten the screws, as shown in Figure
6-11.
Step 8 Connect the signal cables to the original positions on the NIM01C panel.
Step 9 Disconnect the ground cable for the ESD wrist strap, and take off the ESD wrist strap and
ESD gloves.

Follow-up Procedure
Pack the removed component, and return it to Huawei local warehouse.

push the CIM02C until its front panel is flush with the front panel of the monitoring unit
subrack.
Step 6 Push the handle inwards until it is engaged, and then tighten the screws.
Step 7 Reconnect the cables to the new CIM02C panel based on the recorded information.
Step 8 Disconnect the ground cable from the ESD wrist strap, and remove the ESD wrist strap and
ESD gloves.

Setting a LAN
If the monitoring unit is connected to a LAN and a proxy server has been selected, cancel the
proxy server settings.
If the monitoring unit is connected to the Internet but your computer is connected to a LAN,
do not cancel the proxy server settings. Otherwise, you cannot access the SMU.
