General Procedures for a "Pyramid" Competition Format:

1. At the start of the tournament, teams are placed on the Pyramid either at random or based previous performance indicators.
2. Using rules and regulations developed by the teacher or agreed upon by the sport council, teams challenge other teams that
are
one or two layers above them in the pyramid (i.e., standings).
3. In the shown example, if the Padres beat the Jetta's, they exchange places in the standings.
4. Duty Team rotation should be assigned at random prior to seeding teams for Opening Day matches.
5. Teams serve as Duty Team on a set rotating basis. On days that a team serves in that role, it cannot be challenged, and, thus,
does not move up or down in the rankings. Teams ranked immediately below the scheduled Duty Team for a given day, can
only challenge other teams that are ranked at or above the Duty Team on that day. IF the Duty Team is in first place, they still
cannot be challenged on that day.

Possible Rules on Team Challenges in a "Pyramid" Competition Format:

1. Teams should be required to play a designated number of games within a specified amount of time.
2. Challenges that have not been played within the time limit result in a forfeit.
3. When a team loses a challenge, it needs to play at least one other team before the same team can be challenged. For ex., if
the Colts beat the Giants, the Giants need to play another team before they can challenge the Colts again.

Some Suggested Competition Regulations:

A team can challenge other teams that are between one and three rungs above them on the ladder. If it wins, it sxchanges
position with that team.
OR
As above, with the winner taking the place of the challenged team with the loser dropping down one place in the standings.
OR
The tournament can have "open challenges" where any team can challenge any other team on the ladder within a given time.
