Weird, wired, words and the world

The complexity of English language has been wide and people haven’t discovered the
beauty of it. Since people are accustomed to use simple words, some words in English may
sound odd for many. Below are the lists of unfamiliar words in English language.
1. Acnestis- The part of the back (or backbone) between the shoulder blades and the
loins which an animal cannot reach to scratch
2. Agastopian- admiration of a particular part of someone’s body
3. Agelast- a person who never laughs
4. Ampersand- the sign & (standing for and, as in Smith & Co., or the Latin et, as in &c).
5. Borborygmus- a rumbling or gurgling noise in the intestines
6. Finifugal- afraid of finishing anything
7. Fudgel- Pretending to work when you’re not actually doing anything at all
8. Gabelle- a tax on salt
9. Leukonychia- is a medical term for white discolouration appearing on nails.
10. Lunula- is the crescent-shaped whitish area of the bed of a fingernail or toenail.
11. Macrosmatic- having a good sense of smell
12. Obelus- the symbol ÷
13. Octothorpe- the symbol #
14. Philtrum- medial cleft, is a vertical indentation in the middle area of the upper lip,
common to many mammals, extending in humans from the nasal septum to the
tubercle of the upper lip.
15. Pot-valor- boldness or courage resulting from alcoholic drink
16. Uvula- the teardrop-shaped piece of soft tissue that hangs down the back of your
throat.
There are also compound words which cannot be distinguished the meaning by
combining it. Thus, it needs thorough analyzation before you get the meaning.
1. Swansong- It is not a type of song but rather a final/ farewell performance.
2. Highbrow- It is not a type of brow but a fancy or high society.
3. Four eyes- It is not a type of eyes but simply a person who has four eyes.
4. Hothead- A person whose head is hot or prone to anger.
5. A put- down- An insult or negative remark.
There are plenty of wonderful but weird words you are not using yet. English is fun,
only if you learn how to use them correctly.
