feeding program: Are students better off with it?

Gingoog City Comprehensive National High School (GCCNHS) implements feeding
program for those 80 selected students who are severely wasted.

A feeding program will be held inside the campus at Gingoog City Comprehensive
National High School TVL room (Technical-Vocational-Livelihood) every Wednesday and
Thursday for those 80 selected students who were labeled and classified as severely wasted.
It aims to provide free and sustainable feeding program until the end of the month of
December.
Feeding programs are common in public schools where malnourished or severely
wasted students are being centralized. However, these programs last only for a few months
due to financial constraints.
The program happens at exactly noon where students take their lunch. Severely
wasted students could only eat the food as what the TVL students served and cooked for
them. Often times, they eat vegetables, rice, meat, and other healthy snacks including
gulaman juice as their sweet. This can address the need of the students to attain normal
weight after experiencing hunger for a long period of time.
This program happens every Wednesday and Thursday and as expected the students
will at least increase their weight until the end of December. Having the TVL room as the
venue the student are beyond comfortable to eat since the TVL students who serves the
recipe and also Mrs. Denia Ramos maintain the cleanliness of the room.
This is according to Shiela Ibcas, the chairman of this program.
"This feeding program is ran by the school canteen in which a small percent of the
profit is being used for the cost of the foods. The food division won't matter at all for the food
was given equally and well-calculated,” Mrs. Ibcas explained.
Of how the teachers show concern to the students is through this so-what project
named “Feeding Program". Aside from giving the students a quality education, strengthens
all the learners with capabilities they require to become economically productive and an
enhance individual well-being they also make sure that the students are in the best condition
to grasp the lesson very well and to commit the upcoming studies to memory.
