Project Topic: Use iPad to take nature pictures Date and Time: 14/10/2019
For Sera, Alfie and Mason become socially responsible and show respect for the environment (EYLF Outcome 2.4).
As well as transfer and adapt what children have learned from one context to another(EYLF Outcome 4.3). Children
express ideas and make meaning using a range of media(EYLF Outcome 5.3).
This experience provides opportunities to children to record the world in their eyes, and learn to respect nature
through what they observed. It also gives children opportunity to get connect with technology.
Content:
This experience is linked with science in KLA. Children explore scientific and technological concepts through use
digital technologies, they develop skills in composition of a picture by mobile phone. Take the pictures of nature
Learning Children would transfer their ideas about nature into pictures, for example, if a child likes

dandelion and sky, he could take a photo of dandelion with a blue sky as background.
Children would develop their understandings of digital technologies – they learn to use
Children could be more patient when they waiting for their turn – they will take photos one

Observe and document children’s behaviours and conversations during the experience.
I will ask child come to outdoor area one by one, therefore, they will have enough time and

Differentiation I could ask questions like: why you take this photo? Why your favourite photo is this one?
Children could give me different answers and that would show their different identity, I could
Reflection Some children took a lot of pictures, they enjoyed photographing rather than choose a place
they interested in, they took pictures everywhere. Some children were more focus on their
interested places such as Alfie took the pictures of ‘Woolworth discovery garden’ because he
said he “look after these plants every day.’ Sera took a picture of ‘Leafy’ which is a little plant
with beautiful green leaves that have been raised by them for a long time. She asked “What’s
going on with Leafy? It’s turning yellow.” “Have you water it?” I asked. “I don’t know, I didn’t
water it, can you water it now?” Sera touched the soil and felt it wet or not. She touched the
leaves gently when I water the plant and promised she will take care of Leafy. And mason took
photos of many different places in the outdoor area, he took photos of play equipment, sky,
scooters and wooden bridge, plants, bugs. Children showed their different interests and how
did they use digital technology. Alfie, Mason and Sera all knew how to use iPad to take photo
and they know the icon of album. Younger children were slide the screen sometime when they
took photo.
Receiving feedbacks from centre staff and talk to children about their ideas, feelings and
feedback.
Evaluation This experience connects with EYLF outcomes that children strengthen the respect for the
nature and they express their ideas by take photo, they make their pictures meaning.
Some children were distraction by phone, they want to see what APPs do I have, so I told
them respect other people’s private too. I realized that it was a good opportunity to taught
For my future plan, I will teach Sera, Alfie, Mason and other children who already know how to
use phone camera about edit photo on iPad, such as adjust picture’s colour and size.
And I will teach children respect private, for example, do not play other people’s phone without
permission.
