Characteristics of Group Not Classified as Social Group

1. AGGREGATE
GROUP

This is a collection of
individual people in a cafe. This is an
example of aggregate group that
does not share similar traits.

A collection of individual in a
fastfood chain, in a same place and in
the same time, doing the same thing
but not interacting in a more
meaningful way.
2. COLLECTIVITY

A group of people gathered to


participate in a clean-up drive
program. It is an example of a
collectivity group in which people
interacts in a short period of time.

3. SOCIAL CATEGORY

Group of Politicians.
Characteristics of Group Classified as Social Ties

1. PRIMARY GROUP

A group of people
interacting and
communicating with each
other or having an intimate
relationship. Example is
friendship and a family.

2. SECONDARY GROUP

An individual buying a drink from


a café shop.
Group According to Self- Identities

1. IN-GROUPS

A group of students that


belongs to the section of
grade 12- Sagacity.

2. OUT-GROUPS

This is an example of an out-group in


which a grade 8 students does not
belong to the section of 12-Sagacity

3. PSYCHOLOGICAL GROUPS

The person in the picture


evaluates herself as part of this
kind of status in life. This is an
example of psychological or
reference group.
Kind of Group According to Purpose

1. SPECIAL INTERESTS GROUP

A group of people organized


with respect to the same kind of
their interest.

2. TASK GROUPS

This is a task that cannot be done


by one person.

3. INFLUENCE/PRESSURE GROUPS

A social movements organized to


support their social actions is an
example of influence or pressure
groups.
Kind of Group According to Geographical Location and Degree or Quality
of Relationship

1. GEMEINSCHAFT

This is more personal or traditional


relationship social system. Example
is the tribal groups.

2. GESSELSCHAFT

This group of people in a


conference.
Kind of Group According to Form of Organization

FORMAL GROUPS

A group of politicians or a
government having an objective to
be attained is part of formal
groups.

INFORMAL GROUPS

A group of people
doing an unplanned actions
and usually doesn’t have
objectives to be attain. Ex.
Squad goals
