Lesson 13. 형용사절 (2)

[연습] 관계대명사를 이용하여 두 문장을 한 문장으로 써 봅시다.

1. Jane has a brother. I am interested in him.  whom

→ Jane has a brother whom(that) I am interested in.  목적격 관계대명사 생략 가능

 Jane has a brother in whom I am interested.

2. Tom has the news. You are curious about it.  which

→ Tom has the news which(that) you are curious about .  목적격 관계대명사 생략 가능

 Tom has the news about which you are curious.

[정리] [전치사 + 관계대명사] 뒤 에 나오는 절은 (완전/불완전) 하다.

★ 관계대명사 앞에 놓이는 전치사의 결정

: 전치사 뒤에 선행사를 넣어서, 관계사절의 끝에 넣어본다.

Amy married the man with whom she worked.

(with the man)

She is one of my friends on whom I depend.

(on my friends)

★ 기억해야 할 전치사
temperature / speed, rate. velocity / height, altitude + ( ) which
extent, degree + ( ) which
process, means + ( ) which

3. 수량사 + of + 관계대명사
[연습] 관계대명사를 이용하여 두 문장을 한 문장으로 만드세요.

→ Tom read a number of articles, some of which were useful.

 Tom read a number of articles, one of which useful.

[정리] 수량사(명사) + of + which/whom” + 불완전한 절

수량사(주어) + of + which/whom + 동사  수일치 조심!

(수량사: most, some, all, much, many, a few, both, each, one…… )
