Sample Answer 1:

Despite a continuing improvement in standard of living, many people believe that

young people suffer more stress than older generations. I definitely agree with the
statement and shall put forth my arguments to support my views in the following
paragraphs.
Firstly, teenagers are exposed to more products than earlier generations as they are
living in a modern consumerist society. Through films and the media they see celebrities
with expensive jewellery, clothes and cars. Moreover, youth oriented advertising gives
them an awareness of the latest technology such as digital music formats and mobile
phones. As a result, teenagers feel pressure to acquire these items. Such stresses were not
so strong during earlier times.
Secondly, pressures at school are stronger than before. Competition is very tough.
Today’s children have to compete with children from all over the globe. Teenagers must
succeed in their studies so that they can compete for the best jobs. Parental pressure,
examinations and homework are all reported as causing increased levels of strain. Such
stress was not that severe in earlier times.
Finally, today’s children are faced with a new type of stress. They are faced with a
choice of two cultures. One culture, the global culture, is the one they want to adopt and
the other is the traditional culture which they are forced to adopt by their parents. They
are in a dilemma and this causes stress that has never been experienced by the earlier
generations.
To sum up, consumerism and academic pressures are powerful causes of stress on
today’s teenagers. To add to it there is the pressure of sticking to the traditional culture.
So, definitely today’s children are under greater pressure than that faced by earlier
generations.

Model Answer 3:
In this 21st century people are enjoying more comfortable life with better facilities,
increased life expectancy and with more possibilities than ever before. Living standard
has improved dramatically and the technological advancement has made our life easier.
Despite of these advancement and achievements, many people feel that their offspring are
living under an immense pressure from the society and I quite agree with this viewpoint.
First of all, the competition children have to face in school, home and even in play ground
is far more than the past centuries. The society appreciates only the best performers and
being the top scorer is quite a challenging job. The parents want their children to excel in
every field and thus the childhood is far different these days than our forefathers used to
have. Renowned and good schools have a limited number of seats and the competition
for those seats is overwhelming. Parents want their children to excel in other areas besides
their academic performance including music, sports, art and in other fields. They are often
found to be forced to get involved in activities that they have little interest in. Thus the
children in the present era live under constant pressure, fear and competition. The
pressures are many folded- from parents, siblings, classmates, society and so on. As a
consequence they do not have a magical and carefree childhood our past generations
enjoyed.
Obviously, due to overpopulation and scarcity of land, people are forced to move to an
apartment rather than a traditional home. These apartments force children to have limited
activities at home which include watching television and using internet. In addition, these
apartments have some regulations such as not to make noise or play and that is why
children cannot enjoy their life freely. Moreover, in this modern world many parents have
adapted some western cultures and children are forced to learn or do some skills even if
they dislike it. For instance, some parents force their children to learn the musical
instruments to show their status in the society. Furthermore, nowadays the modern society
is keener in observing what others are doing. Children are the one suffer a lot from this
attitude and they are more vigilant in their action to protect their parents’ status.
Finally, the loose family bonding and parents’ priority for their career often create an
invisible pressure to the children that has many negative psychological effects. The
number of single mom and single dad is a proof that our family bonding in deteriorating
in this modern era. Parents’ actions affect their offspring severely and any social and
family degradation will have serious negative consequences on children.
To conclude, society is dynamic and compared to the bygone years, today’ children have
more toys, electronic gadgets, opportunity to learn and express their views but that does
not make their childhood more enjoyable. The type of pressure they face is quite
overwhelming and that has many adverse effects on their growth as well.

Model Answer 4:
The development of society in today’s world has many effects on fathers, mothers and
the ways to educate their children. Therefore, I believe that today’s children are always
put under pressure than children in previous generations.
It is evidenced that there are more and more competitive in modern society. So that most
of parents thought that getting the prestigous bachelor’s degree is the best future of their
children. This is why the children are forced to learn more and more at younger ages.
They are required to attend many courses such as drawing, swimming, instrumental
classes and so on. Furthermore, the parents often decide what their children need to do
without asking them what they really love to do. Consequently, the kids have to handle a
lot of pressure at the ages where they should be able to enjoy their childhood.
Secondly, children have to face more threats than children in the past. One of them is that
the children are easy to access to black websites due to internet has become very popular.
Another is that they may be addicted to computer games. These will cause many negative
effects on both mental and physical development at their age. As a result, parents tend to
limit their leisure time by increasing studying activities for them. They try to keep their
kids away from potential dangers that they are not mature enough to realize these. By that
way, the parents unintentionally put more stress on them.
In conclusion, it cannot be denied that having a good study plan may help children get
more success in the future. By the same time, it would be even better if parents get more
understanding about their children before planning.

Model Answer 5:
Today’s world is in the competitive age. Everyday is alive with challenges especially
among children. They compete with one another for something in the endless race every
day and night. And so the life of today’s children is too hectic to enjoy fully than that of
the children in the past. In this essay, I will point out why children get stress and suggest
ways of allowing children to grow up in a non-stressful environment.
From kindergarten to university, today’s children lives are too hectic. First and foremost,
they have to go to school. In the classroom, sometimes they are under pressure and
stressful because of the favor shown by their teachers. After school, they have to have
extra tuition and other courses so that they can learn as many things as possible. Finally
they arrive home and then they have to do their homework. This is the daily life of today’s
children. Whether they want to do or not, they are being pushed all the time. The parents
want their children to be well-rounded ones. They neglect what their children are actually
enthusiastic in. They should understand the capacity of their children and realize that their
children are not supermen. This is why, most of children are not happy at home and
always under stress.
Due to globalization, children have to study extra-curricular lessons to keep abreast of
other children of their age around the globe. Sometimes they forget to laugh, wrestling
with their school lessons and burdens. Following the lure of success, popularity and rank,
they get gradually away from the simple environment. They become the silly ones who
do not know how to relax and how to savor the peace of nature. In the long run, they
easily get aggressive, greedy and intolerant. These all are because of the violent hitting of
their stressful environment in which they grow up. In my opinion, to lighten all of their
burdens, children should have some activities such as going picnics, taking a walk, spend
their leisure together with their friends.
In conclusion, to solve the problem of such stressful society for the children, the teachers,
the parents and the children all together should have mutual understanding to each other
regardless of their age.
