DIFFERENTIATED INSTRUCTION

Speaker: Mr. Lloyd Vincent O. Sasil

According to Bruce Nauman“A good teacher is like a good artist. They go right to the most
difficult part of whatever is going on. A teacher is someone who brings out his/ her thousands
of character in order to make the learning process as alive as watching a Disney Movie.
Teaching days may vary from good or bad one, at the end of the day teachers will always look
at the silver lining of everything. Teachers don’t only teach for the sake of salary, but to mould
personalities that would be of great help to our society and at the same time can make a
difference towards other peoples’ lives. Teaching could be tiring at times, but if we are to
witness the positive changes that are happening to our learners, only then we can tell that we
have served our purpose here on earth. All the efforts are all worth it.

Our speaker, Mr. Lloyd Vincent O. Sasil has presented materials which can be useful for
us teachers when teaching the students a specific lesson. He showed us educational material
that would catch the interest of the learners and at the same time would make the class livelier
than the typical or conventional learning process. He also highlighted the theory about Multiple
Intelligences by Howard Gardner, where teachers should never forget that learners are very
unique on their very own way. Although learners must be treated fairly we should see to it that
their needs are met base from their unique differences.

In this seminar, I have learned that we don’t teach just because we are being paid, we
teach because we want to inspire and mould young ones to be someone in the future, to
impart what we have learned from the mistake and experience we had also, to remind the
students that outside of their homes, there are people who is willing to be someone whom they
can lean on, may it be a friend, sister, brother, second mother or father, or it could be both. So
they will have the chance to forget whatever is keeping them from being happy. Just like Albert
Einstein quoted “It’s the supreme art of the teachers to awaken joy in creative expression and
knowledge.
WORK ETHICS AND DEPED POLICY
AND PROCEDURE ON RANKING
Speaker: Mrs. Rosalinda Tan

Code of Ethics is a public statement by educators that sets clear expectations and
principles to guide practice and inspire professional excellence. Educators help students
to value their own identity, learn more about their cultural heritage, and practice social
and civic responsibilities. With the use of code ethics teachers are guided on how to
deal with their students as well as on how to behave with at most professionalism
towards the people they are working with in their working environment.

This seminar taught me to consider the following; Student matter most. Teachers
must model strong character traits, such as perseverance, honesty, respect, lawfulness,
patience, fairness, responsibility and unity. Commitment to the job, teachers must
wholly commit to the teaching profession like it is already a part of them. I am glad that
I have witness such an informative seminar. Not just it enlightens me about the work
ethics of a teacher, but also the career path of a teacher. The things that a teacher can
be done such as the procedure on ranking or the steps or procedure to follow when I
finally decide if I would apply for being a School Principal or how can I earn points that
will help me when I will apply for ranking.

According to Potter Stewart, “Ethics is knowing the difference between what you
have a right to do and what is right to do.”. Not because I am a teacher I will have all the
right to do things even if it is against the code of ethics of a professional teacher, but
because I believe it is right for me and also to my learners. Learners are the top most
priority in education system. Student’s existence is the sole reason why teacher exist,
they coexist.
SOCIAL GRACES
Speaker: Dr. Mardy Verano

Social graces are important skills that help us to interact politely in social
situations. These skills include etiquette and manners, behaviour, body language and
our appearance. Over the years how we apply social graces has changed with business
becoming more international, combined with social changes in society. With that being
said, social graces for me, is a teacher’s way of presenting herself with dignity and
professionalism. Since I am facing different students with unique behaviour I should
remind myself to always act as professional as ever even though sometimes I experience
bad days inside the school.

In this seminar, I have learned not only to deal with students and co- teacher in
one environment but also how to manage my anger and frustration whenever I have
bad days inside the school because it always reminds me that I should be more than just
an erupting volcano. I should be a still water; despite all the waves that would crash me
to pieces I must maintain calmness in my mind, and soul. I was also informed with the
different ways to develop social graces such as; making proper introductions to people,
listening and not interrupting in conversation, using good table manners, maintaining
relationship towards people we are working with, and also be pleasant to others at all
times.

Through social graces, I was able to face challenging days in teaching while
training off campus in a smooth sailing phase. Social graces help not just teachers but all
the people to live in peace and harmony.
