INTRODUCTION

November 30, 2017, was a day when Liza George turned a

professional fashion designer from being a teacher by
inaugurating her longtime dream fashion boutique,
Buttercups in Kochi.
Liza started spreading her fragrance with tailoring. She was
a teacher by profession but a designer by passion. She did
a fashion designing course lately and customers, relatives,
friends and neighbors who realized the creativity residing
within Liza gave her full support and inspiration to start her
dream fashion boutique, Buttercups.

Sreejith Jeevan, a leading fashion designer in and out

Kerala and the founder of Rouka, an online fashion
boutique, came to inaugurate Liza George’s Buttercups
fashion boutique and her signature collection at Panampilly
Nagar, Kochi.

She has an interesting take while designing clothes and her

instincts work in tandem with her creativity which is a
combination rarely seen. Fashion designing is all about
making the best use of one’s creativity and skill. And again
Liza proved that fashion designing is something people of
all generation and age enjoy.

PROCESS CO-ORDINATION
Tailoring is a process of garment making by take the
measurement of one selected person’s body shape. On
this garments making system the selected person select
his/her favorite design, color, fabric etc. All of the
garments measurement and every design can be depend on
the customer.

Material: The customer brings materials of their choice

or choose form the boutique.

Customer Details: The details of the customer such as

name, phone number, address etc are taken down for any
clarifications.
Designing: The head designer draws and shows different
patterns and designs for the required garment. The
customer chooses designs and patterns of her choice and
finalizes it.

Measurements: The tailor takes the required

measurements of customer and write it down. The
customer suggests the lengths of sleeves, wideness,
looseness etc.

Order Confirmation: The finishing date of the garment

is given to the customer in written form to collect it on the
date or if it’s an urgent stitching the customer suggests a
date of their choice and checks it with the designer.
Marking Pattern: The material is spread over and the
measurements of the customer are marked with tailoring
chalk.

Cutting: The cloth is then cut by hand, creating all the

individual panels for the garment. At this stage, the
cutters purposely leave extra cloth at the inlays (1/2 – 1
inch seam allowance) to allow the garment to be altered at
a future date if the client’s weight change. The lining of
the garment is also cut from lining cloth with the same
measurements.
Embroidery Works: Once the cloth has been cut to
shape, creating the foundation of the garment, additional
works such as mirror work, aari work, embroidery etc are
done before stitching the garment by a person who is
specialized in it.

Stitching: The cut materials are send to the tailor for

stitching. The tailor stitches the garment with the lining
inside so the material doesn’t seem transparent. The seam
edges are double stitched to make the finishing stronger.
Ironing: Once the garment is stitched it is ironed and
folded. Later it is packed to a cover for delivery.

Trails: The customer tries out the garment to know

whether the fittings are correct, if it’s not it is given for
alteration.
