A.

Procedures of Teaching Reading with Picture Book

Before the teacher taught in the class, the teacher must prepare some procedures for the

learning activities to run the activities according to the plan that has been made. The purpose of

the procedures for learning activities more planned and aspects to be achieved in order to

achieve.

a) Pre-Activity

The students are given stimulation by the teacher asking them about the materials e.g.

“Do you know about the story about Boruto?”, “Have you ever read the story in a

comic?”.The questions are aimed to activate their background knowledge about

narrative text in the comic book.

 The students are listened to the explanation about the purpose of learning reading with

Boruto comic

 The teacher asks students to download the blue manga app that will facilitate the

learning process using boruto comic

 The teacher explains to students the procedural using blue manga

 The teacher is intended to introduce comic as the media that is applied in the

treatments.

 Students are given a short introduction about the narrative text that will be learned.

b) While-Activity

 Teacher asks students about the story in comic whether some of them have already

known this story or not

 Teacher asks students to discuss a comic (peer) that has been given.

 Students are guided to comprehend the text in Boruto comic.


 Students are allowed to ask about the difficult words in the comic.

 Students tell orally the story

c) Post-Activity

 Teacher evaluates the activity and gives feedback to the students

 Students are asked to review the story that has been read

 Teacher summarizes the activity.

1) Research schedule of experimental class

The object of research in experimental class are the students of class VIII B in the

eight grade of SMP Triyasa Bandung. It consisted of 30 students which all of them

participated in this research. Six meeting are conducted in the experimental class. The

schedule of research for each meeting was presented in table 4.2 below.
2) Research schedule of control class

The object of research in control class are the students of class VIII A in the eighth grade of

SMP Triyasa Bandung. It consisted 30 students which all of them participated in this

research. Sixth meeting are conducted in the control class. The schedule of research for each

meeting was presented in the table 4.5

The detail schedule of the research discuss below:

1) The first schedule was conducted on August 6th, 2018. At first meeting, students in

the control class are given pretest which is narrattive text in finding elements of story

consist of 30 questions multiple choice before they taught narrative text in finding

elements of story.

2) The second meeting untill the fifth meeting was the meeting to teach narrative text in

finding elements of story without using Boruto comic. It was conducted on August 7th

until 20th, 2018.

3) The last meeting was conducted on August 21th, 2018. In this meeting, students in the

control class are given posttest which is narrattive text in finding elements of story

consist of 30 questions multiple choice after they taught narrative text in finding

elements of story.
