showing the differentiation between them all. Zoom into phone which
is scrolling through social media while liking posts and commenting
allowing the audience to see just how easy social media is to use
and how easy it can be turned into a nasty platform. Then get
printed social media icons and show through a a white sheet of paper

there is.
JEMIMA:
(Says through a microphone while montage is happening)
Social media is now massive especially amongst the younger
generation. It can be full of fun, being able to connect with
friends far and wide. Being able to have a voice even at a young age
and allowing businesses to have amazing opportunity’s including free
advertisement. But this is the reality 50% of girls and 40% of boys
have been harassed over social media. Teens are now less happy, feel
a large amount of isolation and mentally unhappy due to comparing
themselves to others. With even Ed Sheeran saying ‘One comment ruins
your day. But that’s why I’ve come off it.’
GIRL:
(Comes in from school in uniform on her phone. Show a range of
different locations of her on her phone including brushing her teeth
and getting into bed once again on her phone. Scrolls through post
with a lot of hate comments and some with nice comments.)
JEMIMA:
(Says through a microphone while clip of girl attracted to phone is
being shown)
The younger generation have basically grown up with social media, in
fact many have stated it’s just an everyday part of life. Is this
considered healthy? With an average teen using social media for over
six hours a day. In six hours, you could get a flight to new York,
how crazy is that. The amount of bullying has gone up and many just
ignore the huge amount of bullying and scroll right past. For
instance this girl has come in from school and practically been on
her phone since being home, the majority of that time on social
media. This is how most of us live nowadays.
DAN:
(Clips of him racing and his greatest moments in his career)
JEMIMA:

I am going to be talking to Dan cammish who is a racing driver and
has been encouraged to use social media as it helps build his

and then went on to the Porsche super cup. He now is with British
touring cars where he has been competing for the last 2 seasons
where he was seconds away from winning the championship before his
crash. Hopefully he will be able to tell us more about social media
from his point of view.
(Starts interview with Cammish)

JEMIMA:

(Is speaking by tv with related photos on)

Most children get social media at 11, at this age you are
very vulnerable. The huge amount of Photoshop being used
throughout these platforms is crazy making these young
children extremely insecure and could even lead to suicide.
Sandie Riggs was bullied through social medi a and just
couldn’t escape it. Everywhere she went her phone went.
People kept sending her messages about ending her life, after
a while Sandie spoke up and told someone about the bullying.
But by this time it was too bad to messages got even more and
just a week later she ended her life. Statistics show that
only 10% of parents know if there child is being cyberbullied
because they are too scared to speak up.

(Montage of people in London completing the sentence ‘Social

media is…’)
