Objectives
Students will explore communicating mood through movement.
Students will explore “reading” each other to develop cooperation.

PROCEDURE
Introduction Time
Circle Up - One word to describe your mood today 5 min
Warm Up - Use the same warm up movements that McDonald uses 5 min
Name - In a circle, have a student say the name of someone else. They
Swap must then move toward that person to take their place. Before

they reach that person, the next person must say someone else’s
name.
Body Time
Mill - Prompt students to mill around the room. Encourage them to find
the open spaces by explaining that there will be no elimination in
this activity.
- Announce an emotion and prompt the students to FREEZE in a
position that demonstrates the emotion (i.e. tired, hungry, sick,
happy, excited, bored)
- ATOM – Prompt students to form groups of a designated size. 20 min
Emphasize that this isn’t an elimination activity. End with students
forming groups of two.
- In their groups of two, have students practice MIRRORING each
other. Identify one person in each pair to start and have them
perform a movement. Encourage the other person to mimic that
movement. Switch who is the leader.
Focus - Bring students back to sit in a circle.
Games - COUNT TO 20. Prompt students to count to 20 with only one
person saying a number at a time. Anytime two people speak at
15 min
the same time, the group starts over.
- ONE WORD AT A TIME. Prompt students to tell a story by only
saying one word at a time. Go in order, building a story together.
Old - Base on the student’s energy, choose one of the following review

Conclusion Time
Wind - Prompt students to find a space in the room to lie down. Guide
Down them through relaxation exercises. Include ambient music, if 15 min
possible.
Graveyard - Choose someone to make everyone else laugh. This person must
go around and try to make people laugh or smile, without touching
Sponge
them. If someone laughs or smiles, they are the new person trying
to make people laugh.
Circle Up - Have students share what their favourite thing about drama has
