K-12 is a program that covers kindergarten and 12 years of basic education to provide sufficient
time for mastery of concepts and skills, develop lifelong learners, and prepare graduates for
tertiary education, middle-level skills development, employment, and entrepreneurship.
Senior High School is two years of specialized upper secondary education; students may choose
a specialization based on aptitude, interests, and school capacity. The choice of career track will
define the content of the subjects a student will take in Grades 11 and 12. Each student in Senior
High School can choose among three tracks: Academic; Technical-Vocational-Livelihood; and
Sports and Arts. The Academic track includes three strands: Business, Accountancy,
Management (BAM); Humanities, Education, Social Sciences (HESS); and Science,
Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM).

Total 22.9 million (public schools) + 4.8 million (private schools)

Primary 1.8 million (public kindergarten schools) + 13.2 million (public

elementary schools)

Secondary 6.3 million (public junior high schools) + 1.6 million (public
senior high schools)

 The k-12 program was approved by President Benigno lll under the Republic
Act (RA) 10533, signing into law the K+12 program on May 15, 2013. The k-1 2
program further enchance our skills and abilities to let us prepare for our incoming
studies in college, it gaves advantage for the incoming college students because
students will have an idea about their future career or their desired future occupation.
Some people says that this program is just a waste of time and money but some
people says that this program is advantageous, But people doesn’t know that this k-
12 program is for the students own good . The advantage of this program is the
students will gain sme insight and ideas abou their desired future occupation and they
will be ready for their future studies and the disadvantage of this program is that some
people or some family doesn’t have much money and time to let their children attend
this program because some students just want to finish their junior high school
program and get a job , so some family think that this program does not benefit them
and this program is just a burden and headache. In my opinion , this program will
benefit us and helps us accelerate our knowledge and will help us get a job earlier ,
why? Because when you finished your senior high school studies there is a tendency
that you will get a job if your on the job-training is excellent there is a chance that the
company that you worked for will hire you.
