RATIONALE

In 2012, the Philippines introduced the K to 12 Program, which covers

Kindergarten and 12 years of basic education (six years of primary education,

four years of junior high school, and two years of senior high school [SHS]).

According to the Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013 (the Act), DepEd will

launch senior high school (SHS) nationwide in June 2016, a new level of basic

education comprised of grades 11 and 12.

The senior high school tracks and strands of the DepEd are General Academic

Strand (GAS), Sports Track, Arts and Design Track: Music, Theatre, Visual Arts,

Media Arts, and Dance. It also has Technical-Vocational Livelihood (TVL): Home

Economics, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Agri-Fishery Arts

and Industrial Arts. In Academic track it has three strands: Accountancy,

Business and Management (ABM); Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS);

and Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM).

The Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM) strand would concentrate

on the fundamental concepts of financial management, business management,

corporate operations, and accounting. Furthermore, the Humanities and Social

Sciences (HUMSS) strand allows students to focus more on humanistic ideals

that the world requires, whereas Science, Technology, Engineering, and

Mathematics (STEM) students are exposed to complex mathematical and

scientific theories and concepts that will serve as a foundation for their college

courses.

Specifically, this study focuses on the Perceptions and Probability of Grade 10

students at Dr. Cecilio Putong National Highschool towards the ABM strand. The

Probability of Grade 10 students towards ABM strand is to ascertain the number

of Grade 10 students in DCPNHS selecting ABM as their preferred strand.The

final and most crucial grade in junior high school is tenth grade in secondary

education. Students who successfully complete this level will proceed to Senior

High School, which is the next level of schooling. SHS provides experience and

training in preparation before entering college. Therefore, it is a must for Grade

10 Students to pick their preferred strand

This main purpose of this study to increase the awareness of grade 10 students

in choosing Accountancy, Business, and Management strand. Senior High

School will be very accommodating in preparation for College. Students will be

more motivated for their future job by selecting the right Senior High School

strand. Studying is more pleasurable once they select a strand they prefer

because the strands are created and tailored to fit their interests.

This study used phenomenology research to identify experience from a personal

point of view and convenience sampling where the first available primary data

source will be gathered from. The respondents of this study are the grade 10
students from different sections in Dr. Cecilio Putong National High School of the

school year 2022-2023. The survey questionnaire was used to gather data

composed of open-ended questions relating to the point or issue. The

researchers conducted the study to assess the grade 10 students who are

choosing ABM Strand. The study helps students, on giving the right perspective

toward incoming ABM students by exploring and assessing their concepts

through their perception and probability.

The study will look at what grade 10 students think about the ABM strand and the

percentage of students who think that way. However, the study will also look at

how respondents' knowledge influences the ABM strand. Furthermore, the

researchers are confident that this study will greatly benefit the school,

particularly the Senior High School Department, by opening the minds of each

individual and implementing some actions or programs to correct any incorrect

understandings right away.
