CHAPTER I

THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND

Introduction
Hairstyle is one of the fashion issues that people nowadays are giving much attention to. In order to

belong in the society , people themselves choose to come up with new trend. Either teenager and even adults

are being conscious to themselves that is why they choose to visit salons in order to beautify not only their

looks but also salon employees techniques in hairdressing as well. Haircutting and hairstyling are very

personal services for many women and a growing number of men in population. The customers often

develop personal relationship with their stylists. Hairdresser is a person whose occupation is to cut or style

hair in order to change or maintain a person’s image. This includes the combination of hair coloring, cutting

and hair texturing techniques.

There are more hairstyling techniques like straightening frizzy hair, a combination a specific

products and tools to eliminate a frizzy hair plus, simple professional techniques for using a round brush, go

natural being out the best in your naturally curly hair with these taming tips, vital volume build fullness and

body into a fine, limp hair, back coming tips to create big hair, thicken fine hair, or support up to hairstyles.

Back coming is a crucial skill for success especially with the latest hairstyles. Here’s how to do it properly

The hairdresser trims hair advices customers in a relation to use of hair cosmetic. They shape and trims hair,

they can also perform other body care services. Every year, hairstyles change in so many ways people follow

new trends to become beautiful and good looking at the same time.

However, each salon along locale of the study has different issues in terms of hairstyling techniques.

Including the treatment they use in hair colouring in hair rebonding. Most of salons today use advanced tools

to improve their skills in relation with business.

. This research was conducted to determine and gather information about the new ways of hairstyling

techniques that salon staff do also for the benefits of the researcher in collecting concised information

concerning techniques in hairstyling and other aspects of hairdressing. Two (2) locales services as locale of

the study which in salons of San Ildefonso, Bulacan and Candaba, Pampanga

In this situation, the reason why we conducted this study is to determine the techniques and tools

used by the salon in San Ildefonso, Bulacan and Candaba, Pampanga. As these two locales are more civilize

and has the ability to produce specific number of respondents.

Statement of the Problem

This study includes a comparative analysis of hair styling techniques of selected salons in San

Ildefonso, Bulacan and Candaba, Pampanga. Specifically, the researcher aim to determine the following:

1. How may the hairstyling techniques of salons be determined in terms of:

1.1 Curling

1.2 Hair rebonding

2. Is there significant difference between the hairstyling techniques of salons in Candaba and San

Ildefonso?

Scope and Delimitation

The main focus of this study is to conduct a comparative analysis of hairstyling techniques of

selected salons in San Ildefonso, Bulacan and Candaba, Pampanga. The researchers want to know the

various design and relevant information on hairdressing. The study was conducted at selected salons in San

Ildefonso, Bulacan and Candaba, Pampanga.

Significance of the Study

Salon Customer- the researcher will help salon customer to be aware of different styles in hairstyling.

Salon Business Manager- this study will help salon owner in researching effective ays on how they will

improve their more business.

Community- this study will help each member of the community to be aware in fashion trends around them

and latest hairstyles.

Future Researcher- the data presented in the study may be used as reference data in conduction relative

researcher in the future.

Definition of Terms

Analysis- a systematic examination and evaluation of data or information, by breaking it into its component

parts to uncover their interrelationship.

Beauty Care- from the beauty itself to provide our needs to become fashionable and beautiful to maintain

the beauty itself.

Hairdressing- it generally works in the commercial sector offering a range of service and treatments to the

hair for individuals clients.

Techniques- it refers to the expertise, mastery, and talent for hairstyling.

Hairdresser- a person who curls and styles hair as an occupation.

Salon- a place for the people who wants to be fashionable and good looking.

THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK

Review of Related Literature

categories hairstyling, hair simulation and hair rendering. Hairstyling viewed as modelling the shape of the

hair incorporates the geometry of the hair strand. Hair simulation, involves the dynamic motion of the hair

depiction of hair on the screen.

According to Heidi H. Kong et al. (2011), ponytails bounces as braids of illustrated the generation of

to day want natural blonde colour. Instead of bleaching clients prefer hair lightening which brings more

natural hair colour effects. Lighteners come in a rarely of mixture. At one end range the mild oil, gel and

cream lighteners, when missed with 20% or 30% volume (6% or 9%) of hydrogen peroxide have a

lightening action range of two to four shades. At the opposite range are the stranger powders or crystal

lighteners usually mixed with 20%, 30% or 40%volume 6%, 9% or 12% hydro peroxide which are used for

lightener shades of blonde( pale last decade yellow) the texture and degree of lightening required will

influence which lightener and what strength of hydrogen peroxide will be used and the length of time the

The hair considered as the “ crowning glory”. It can be change a person look from drastic to

majestic. A properly groomed hair can boost your confidence. It can add a unique characteristic or given a

person the “x factor” royal priests and queen from long time age have lots of servants just wash, comb, and

fix their hair (David Velasco) (2016).

Combined adopting the personalizing colour techniques. Will need to produce a variety of fashion

effect in way that complements the style are creating and will also be required to restore depth and tone of

colour and neutralize unwanted colour tone.

Coloring the hair will allow to use artistic flair and represent look you are creating in an innovative

way. In terms of chemical treatments, colouring the hair has become substantially popular over he with this

in mind, product manufactures have developed many interesting the expansive colour ranges and treatments.

Relationship of the Previous of Study to Present Study

The present studies the techniques of salons to improve by using the technology and a lot of hairstyle

will develop using the new equipment.

The previous studies have been found related to this study in terms of tools and strategies used by

several countries and people in order to achieve consumers in kind of hairstyling technique by using the

traditional tools. New equipment, new techniques and strategies as well as new salons establish as time goes

by.

The researcher wants to determine the techniques and strategies in hairstyling

techniques of Candy’s salon of San ildefonso, Bulacan and Daisy Salon of Candaba,

Pampanga.

The researchers conducted this study using the survey and questionnaire. The study

will determine the hairstyling Techniques of Candy’s salon of San ildefonso, Bulacan and

Daisy Salon of Candaba, Pampanga.

CHAPTER III

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

This chapter present the research methodology employed in conducting the study. The research

design, data gathering techniques, locale of the study, sampling procedure, and data analysis scheme are

herein described.

Research Design

This study adapted descriptive design of research. Descriptive method was used in gathering

information by the used of questionnaire of this comparative analysis of hairstyling techniquesof selected

salons in San Ildefonso, Bulacan and Candaba, Pampanga.

Descriptive research also includes the collection of data using survey questionnaires and interviews

for further data gathering.

Data Gathering Techniques

Four (4) salons in San Ildefonso and four (4) salons in Candaba were served as respondents in this

study. A total of 8 salons managers in every salon will be interviewed and given them questionnaires, to

gather information about their different techniques in hairstyling.

Sampling Procedure

Four (4) salons in San Ildefonso and four (4) salons in Candabawere served as respondents in this

study. A total of 8 salons managers were interviewed concerning data pertinent to this study including the

employees to gather information about the new techniques that they used in salons.

Locale of the Study

San Ildefonso is a first class municipality in the province of Bulacan Philippines. According to the

2000 census, it has a population of 29, 956 people in15, 753 households.

In 2015 census the population of Candaba, Pampanga were 111,586 people with a density of 630

inhabitants per square kilometre or 1, 600 inhabitants per square miles.

Candaba, officially the municipality of CandabaBalenningCandaba, is a 1st class municipality in the

province of Pampanga. According on the 2015 census, it has a population of 111, 586 peoples.

Fig.1 represents the province of Bulacan bounded by its co- provinces.

The Province of Bulacan

Fig.1 illustrates the Map of Bulacan. This famous municipality is bounded by the province of Nueva Ecija,

Aurora, Pampanga, Quezon, Rizal, and Metro Manila.

Candaba has about 47, 300 resints and an elevation of 11 meters.

Data Analysis Scheme

Data from the questionnaire will be analyzed and evaluated using the following statistic tools:

T-test Analysis method used to determine the significant differences between the means of the pretest

and posttest result of comparative analysis of hairstyling techniques of salons in San Ildefonso and Bulacan.

CHAPTER IV

PRESENTATION, ANALYSIS, AND INTERPRETATION OF DATA

This chapter overseen the presentation of data collected by the researchers in identifying the

comparison between Candy Salon of San Ildefonso , Bulacan and Jsure Salon of Candaba, Pampanga in

terms of tools and techniques used by Salon holders.

Presentation of Data

Descriptive method was used in this study in order to analyse and distinguised each data given. The

researchers employed two(2) locales in this study, San Ildefonso, Bulacanand Candaba, Pampanga .

The profile of respondents has four(4) questions to determine the data gathered and to analyze the

techniques of hairstylist used. The researcher have three(3) questions to answer the following question is

statement of the problem .

Table I and figure I present the result in terms of lenght of the hairstyling experience of salons
respondents according to years from beginning.

Table 1 shows the four (4) Salon in Poblacion,San Ildefonso,Bulacan and four (4) Salons in

Poblacion,Candaba,Pampanga as a respond to this study the number of employees and respondents are

gathered and analyze using statistic tools and tables. Noted from table1, Salons have the same number of

employees with a total of 5 or 20% employees each including Kevcess,Fresh look. Bondats and Moniques

salon 3 or 33.33% of employees the rest salon have including Karizma, Labelida, and Lejoyce

This graph shows the highest experience in salon business 1 to 3 years shows 25% and 4 to 6

years shows 75% 7 to 9 years shows 0% and 10 years above shows 0%. The 4 to 6 years was the second

highest experience, the 7-9 and 10 years above is both 0% years.

Table 3 shows the data gathered through the questionnaires and survey subjected to frequency counts. The

subjects responses for each individual quthe responses to the question were added together to find the

highest frequency of occurance. The responses to the questions which qualified are then presented in

percentage.

This graph shows the highest experience in salon Industry, 1-3 years and 4-6 years shows 25%

of exrience in salon industry and the highest percentage was 10 years and above has a 50% of occurance

and 0% is 7-9 years.

Figure 4 shows in Poblacion, San Ildefonso, Bulacan shows length of experience in salon

industry. The highest percentage of years was 4-6 years and the second highest was 1-3 years, 7-9 years

and 10 and above years was (0%) in salons around Poblacion, Candaba,Pampanga. The length of experience

in salon industry shows that 1-3 years and 4-6 years or 25% and the highest was 10 years above shows 50%.

So the widest experience in salon industry was the salons around Poblacion, Candaba, Pampanga.

The data gathered through the frequency counts. In this survey questionnaires. The number of

hair section reveals that 4-6 or 75% 0f hair sections have the highest number of sections used in hair

rebonding while 1-3 or 25% of hair sections and 7-10 sections or is rarely used by hairstylist in rebonding

the hair.

most used hair sections and 1-3 and 7-10 hair sections was rarely used that is 0%.

4-6 hair sections which have a 100% and 1-3 and 7-10 is zero percent.

In Poblacion ,San Ildefonso, Bulacan, the most used hair section in terms of hair rebonding was

4 to 6 sections or 75% while 1-3 hair sections or 25%. Poblacion, Candaba, Pampanga only used 4-6 hair

sections was the most used sections in terms of rebonding or 100%. Salons in San Ildefonso and salons in

Candaba are the same number of hair sections used.

Table 6 shows the equipment of most used in hair curling . only hair iron and rolling iron was

the most equipment used of hairstylist in salons of Candaba.

Table shows the equipment or tools used in hair curling and 75% was hair iron and rolling iron

which has 25%.

The table of salons in Candaba, pampanga and Poblacion, San Ildefonso, Bulacan shows the

the equipment or tools used in curling was hair iron and rolling iron which has 50% and they know it’s the

fastest way in hair curling in Candaba. Also they curls hair using hair iron which has 75% and the rolling

iron which has 25% so that the salons in Candaba and San Ildefonso almost have the same tools used in

terms of hair curling.

Interpretation of Data Collected

Table 1 and figure 3 shows the results of the profile of the respondents in terms of length of

salon experience in San Ildefonso and Candaba. It shows salon in San Ildefonso chose 4-6 years of existence

in salon industry. 75% or 3 out of 4 salons in San Ildefonso answered 4-6 years and only 1 out of 4 answer

1-3 years . In addition to that, almost of the salons in San Ildefonso are in the midway of their career. On the

other hand, in Candaba, Pampanga, 2 out of 4 salons answer 10 years and above the rest have none or 0%

result. In terms of the most used hair sections, it reveals the both in San Ildefonso and Candaba chose to use

4- 6 hair sections in hair rebonding while on a percentage of 25% turns out to the most used equipment in

salon nowadays, it turns out of 100% of them uses hair iron in terms of hair curling.

Discussions

The following results are interpreted in the previous topic to demonstrate the data needed in

this study. Both salon in San Ildefonso and Candaba are being competitive and strategic in terms of the

techniques they used. Being within a salon industry is an enjoyable yet quite tiring. Each salon should have

enough knowledge in order to run a salon for long terms. San Ildefonso and Candaba salons are smart and

worth enough to establsih the wall within salon industry.

CHAPTER V

SUMMARY, CONCLUSION, AND RECOMMENDATION

This chapter presents the summary, coclusion, and recommendation of the results of the data

analysis for further understanding of data counts.

Summary Findings

Length of experience of the hairstylist in salon industry in San Ildefonso andCandaba.

Based on the data gathered and analyze using the statistical tools, the salon of San Ildefonso experienced 4 to

6 years or 75% in salon industry while in Candaba Pampanga reveals that 2 out of 4 salons answered 10

years and above experience or 50% reached a decade in salon industry. Regarding on the length of salon

experience Candaba have much experience than San Ildefonso, Bulacan. It has the potential of being

competent in terms of salon experience. The rest salons are still in the middle of their carrers.

Common used of techniques in salons. Using the data gathered, the researchers found the

basic techniques in salons in terms of hair curling. The Candaba and San Ildefonso have the same tools used

in hair curling they almost have the same number of highest percentage of tools used in hair curling. San

ildefonso has 75% of using a hair iron and Candaba has 50% or the highest number of percentage of using a

hair iron with their salon industry while salons in san ildefonso and 4-6 and 1-3 hair sections depending on

the hair type of the customers.

Conclusion

There is no significant difference between the hairstyling techniques of selected salon in San

Ildefonso and Candaba because both tools and equipment and techniques that used in hair curling in terms of

rebonding. Salons in San Ildefonso and Candaba also both know the number of hair sections in terms of

rebonding which has 4-6 hair sections. The hairstylist in salons in San Ildefonso have been experienced 4-6

years or 75% in salon industry while salons in Candaba answered 10 years and above or 50% experienced in

salon industry. Regarding on the most used hair sections, San Ildefonso salons chose 4-6 hair sections or

75% and Candaba 4-6 hair sections or 100%. It reveals that Candaba salons find 4-6 sections more easy to

use in hair rebonding.

Recommendation

The study aimed to determine the comparative analysis of hairstyling techniques of salons in

San Ildefonso and Candaba. This study covers eight (8) respondents in San Ildefonso and Candaba with four

(4) corresponding salons each.

For the hairstylist, the researchers highly recommend to have another innovation for their salon.

They can attend seminars regarding beauty make-up hairstylist at least twice a month in order to be unique

and fashionable.

In addition, the researchers also suggest concidering the work place of their business. The

ambiance of workplace and community will be very helpful for the attraction of customers.

Also in this study, the researchers also recommended that Mapaniqui High School should be

involved in the improvement of strategies and techniques in terms of beauty make-up and hair styling. As

younger they involve in the innovation of salons strategies, the more they learn different things that they can

use in their everyday living. It will also help them when they decided to work in salon in the near future.

For the future researchers, in terms of hairstyling techniques in salon they will have a brief

information and knowledge in this study. They can easily determine the ways as well as the techniques used

by the hairstylists. It will be their advantage in having insights that is related to salon techniques.
