University most especially the Head of ICT Department (HOD), Prof. Jebrel Fuseini and all
other lecturers who in one way or the other aid students during the Industrial Attachment and the
initiators who are involved in making Industrial Attachment part of the academic assessment to
enable students gain the aspiring work experience before graduating. I can never forget to
mention my Mom for the support and motivation she gave me,
As part of my three (3) years HND in Information Technology per the requirement
of the University, it is mandatory for Level 100 students going to level 200 and
Level 200 students going to level 300 the next academic year to perform an
two months to enable them obtain practical industrial experience in the field of
study and also to abreast themselves of the business environment. The report is
written at the end of the Industrial Attachment by the student to the institute which
form part in the awarding of the certificate. I did my Industrial Attachment from
(10th June to 16th august 2019) at Tamale Teaching Hospital. The hospital was
established in 1974 and was formerly known as the Tamale Regional Hospital. It
was to provide various health care services to the people of the three Northern
regions of Ghana namely, the Northern, Upper East and Upper West regions.

Industrial Attachment teaches young professionals about specific
industries and companies they are interested in, projects their self-
position.
Personally I have had a few challenges during the attachment period which
includes;
1. The major challenge the intern faced was a new Lifestyle. The Industrial
Attachment gave a new lifestyle to the intern. It made the intern woke up
very early in the morning with the alarm clock at 5:30 am, latest by 6 am to
get ready for work. The intern sat for nine (9) to ten (10) good hours in a day
particular task. Sometimes the intern could close as late as 8:30 pm. The new
life was quite jarring but productive. The hours and the new living situation
clearly made socializing more difficult than before. This challenge later
became normal and part of the intern’s daily life activities as the days moved
on.
Planning and Providing Internal Controls of Hams. The intern designed a checklist
to track and monitor internal controls in the company and the areas that needs
management’s attention. This task will assist management in tackling the hidden

work methods not taught in the University and provide access to products
especially in the conducting of internal audit. Before the placement took place,
my ideas did not match the experiences I have gained during my Industrial
actual work field for me. I have learned to work in a business organization and

Objectives
The Industrial Attachment program as a three (3) credit hour course is to provide a
real life experience and exposure to the student. To enable the intern gain first-
hand exposure of working in the real life which is remarkably valuable towards the
intern’s career.
