GRACE CHRISTIAN COLLEGE
INTERVIEW REVIEWER

I. BASIC/PERSONAL/CHRISTIAN LIFE

1. Tell me something about yourself.

I came from a Christian family. I was saved at the age of ten. My grandfather who is a pastor
shared to me the Gospel. Since that time until now, I am committed to God's ministry. At the
young age, I go out with my grandfather in visitation and soul-winning. When I was fifteen
years old, I became song leader, and I also joined the church choir as member of the tenor
group. Years later, I was elected as the president of the young people department in our
church. Then, I became assistant sunday school teacher in visitors and baptism class. Until
now, I'm still doing most of the said ministries. But what amazes me is that God made me
realized that ministries are not bounded in the four corners of the church building, it extends
even outside and can be done not only during wed, sat, or sunday. It can be everyday. It can
be your job. Your job can be your ministry. I realized that the moment God called me in the
teaching profession. My job as a teacher became one of my ministry.

III. TEACHING/SITUATIONAL

1. Why do you want to be a teacher?

-I believe it is a calling. Teaching is fulfilling. Teaching is like planting a forest. One tree
represents one student.
-site personal example/ when I was a kid I am very fun of reading and memorizing things in
encyclopedia, specifically the dinosaurs. I find studying interesting. Acquiring unending
knowledge is one of the benefits of being a teacher. Thus, gives me the desire of being a
teacher.
2. What is your teaching philosophy?
I believe in teaching to each student’s passion. For instance, in one kindergarten class,
my students had trouble with punctuation. I observed that one student, Mary, suddenly
got excited about apostrophes. I fueled her passion with a big book on punctuation. Her
enthusiasm was contagious, and soon the entire class was asking bright and animated
questions. Whenever possible, I try to deliver structured lessons in an unstructured way
like this.
That answer uses the S.T.A.R. approach to teaching interview questions. It shows a
Situation, a Task, an Action, and a Result.

-I believe on teaching students more than what is written in the book. More than the
concepts, I want to let them know the purpose, essence of those things in our daily lives.
For example, I once teach IT students with basic accounting. If we come to think of it,
what will usual IT students do with accounting after they graduate? I always tell them
that business companies have their IT department which troubleshoots accounting
software/system. If they are not familiar when what is going on in the process of
accounting, how can they troubleshoot accounting system problems? Without them
troubleshooting the accounting system right, the business could possibly incur great
losses.

become good leaders someday.
6. What do you find most frustrating about teaching?
-Most frustrating is when student’s attention span is so short. You cannot totally hold their
minds or control their actions or behaviors. I have to control mine. I have to think creative ways
to get their attention and become interested to what I am saying or teaching.
7. Why should we hire you to teach here?
-same as answer above: I have strong biblical foundation, I can incorporate that to my teaching,
I have teaching work experience, I have skills acquired through that experience, I do things for
the glory of God, thus I do my best in whatever I do. I am committed to God more than to
anyone else. If you are committed to God, you will always want to do what is right.
8. How would you get your classroom ready for the first day of school?
I want my classroom to be welcoming and nurturing. I also make the ground rules
obvious. A welcome sign and labeled desks help students feel at home from day one.

large list of rules and consequences at the front of the room helps the class start on the
