N Important warning concerning people's safety.

P Remark concerning the preservation and proper equipment maintenance.
O Note for:
- Facilitating manual reading.
- optimally implement the equipment.

% Marking

The menu options performed in CONFIGURATION mode and their parameters are marked as::
• OPTION1 / OPTION2... / PARAMETER

$ Additional documentation
For more information on wiring and installing the optional cards for the i 40 indicator, refer to the document:
• Wiring diagram, 04-50-00 DD.

For more information on the use of the i 40 indicator:

• User Manual, 04-55-00 MU.

For more information on the communication protocols implemented in the i 40 indicator:

• Communication protocols manual, 04-55-00 MR.

$ Safety
For devices connected through a power outlet, the NF EN 60 950 standard requires to have this outlet installed
close to the equipment and easily accessible. For equipment connected permanently to mains, an easily accessible
cut-off device must be included to the permanent installation.

04-55-00-1 MI 5

$ Regulation
Instruments to be used for regulated use have undergone the verification of conformity to type and received the
CE mark. Their use and maintenance must be in accordance with the regulations; thus, they are subject to periodic
audit.

Each indicator has a tamper-proof identification label specifying:

- Manufacturer's initials,
- The number of the test certificate,
- The type,
- The serial number of the terminal,
- The CE compliance marking.

This label must not be peeled off.

When the terminal is part of an approved instrument, the complete instrument is identified by an information
label mentioning at least:
- The manufacturer brand,
- The CE type approval certificate number,
- The serial number for the complete instrument,
- The counter number for the software seal (EventCnt).

This label must not be detached.

Each instrument is supplied with a metrological book to record all

verification and maintenance interventions in compliance with currently
applicable regulations.

6 04-55-00-1 MI
$ Recommendations
For optimum equipment accuracy and preservation:
• Do not submit the weighing instrument (the scale) to shocks or overloads.
• Do not store any load on the weighing instrument; unload it as soon as weighing is finished.
• Never use solvents or abrasives for cleaning.

Equipment installation 2
$ Opening and closing i 40-SS housing
The option wiring and installation operations require opening the housing. To maintain the long-term tightness
of the unit, proceed as follows.

Open up

The housing is opened by removing the 6 screws of the device's rear half-shell.
- Depending on the indicator installation, take precautions against tearing out the cables.
- Keep the original screws for reassembly.

04-55-00-1 MI 9
i 40 Indicator

Closure

1. Check the joint condition. (In case of loss of elasticity or cracking, replace it.)
Check the position of the joint, including where the screws go through and at the housing corners.
Before closing, check the proper tightening of ground cable connections linking the two half-shells.
Position the cable so that it will not be pinched.

2. Gradually tighten the screws using a "star" pattern.

3. Final tightening should be moderate, and the outer contour of the seal must remain consistent.

$ Cabling
The following can be connected to the i 40 indicator terminals by cables through cable glands:
• Weighing infrastructure, force sensor, scale;
• Communication links (serial, USB, Ethernet, and field bus links);
• Logical inputs-outputs, optional analogue outputs.

% Principle

O Reminder
The wiring diagram (P/N04-50-00 DD) provides necessary indications.

O Legal Metrology
For Legal Metrology (commercial transactions, for example), the indicator comes wired to the weighing
infrastructure and is sealed. The destruction of the seals is not allowed.

Preparation

For connection to spring-loaded terminals, PRECIAMOLEN offers various stranded shielded cables (sold by
linear meter).
• Cable preparation

1. Pass the cable through the cable gland.

2. The RJ45 plug support is provided. (See "Assembling the RJ45", below). Leave a free length of about 250
to 300mm between the cable gland and the connector.

3. Connect the RJ45 connector to the base of the card.

4. Tighten the gland.

3. Switch the connection thimbles by pressing on their tip. 3.

Pass the strands into the holes of these thimbles.

Press the metal plates together so that they are in contact with the
shielding;

4. Cut the strands flush at the thimble connection. 4.

5. Make the electrical contact on the strands by pressing together the

connection thimble (by means of a clamp).

Slide the cover on the plug body until full engagement. Tighten the
presser nut by hand pressure. 5.

$ Options and accessories

O (named
Depending on the case, the installation of an option may require the insertion of a µSD card
here "µSD card/option") in support of the main card and the addition of a cable passed
through a gland.

The µSD card/option is only used temporary to confirm the installation of an option. If the
indicator is already equipped with a µSD card (for DSD memory or file storing, called "µSD/
saving card"), it must be put back after installing the option.

Reminder:
For the operations described below, bring wiring diagram 04-50-00DD.

$ Compensation for earth gravity variations

All options in this section require INSTALLER level password entry.

When the weighing instrument is adjusted to a different place from the point of use, it is necessary to
record the latitude and altitude values of each site. Thus, the system can calculate the compensation of the gravity
difference between the two locations.
So that the compensation for the variation of gravity is effective, the parameters of the instrument's usage location
must be recorded after adjustment.

maximum capacity.

Level
• SERVICE / WEIGHING / LEVEL 1 3
Three thresholds (number of weighings) can be defined for monitoring the number of weighings:
LEVEL 1, 1 LEVEL 2, 2 LEVEL 3
Thus, depending on the number of weighings reached, the user can be warned of the need to check his

weighings took place.

$ Remote operations by Ethernet link

1. Establish the Ethernet interface configuration. See “Configuration Ethernet link”, page 38.

2. Establish the physical connection between the indicator and a PC:

- Either directly by RJ45 cable (point-to-point, crossed cable),
- Or via a local network.

3. Start the indicator by selecting the desired work mode:

- In operating mode, only weight display is allowed;
- In configuration mode, depending on the user connection profile, the INSTALLER or OPERATOR level
configuration options can be reached.

4. Connect to the indicator via a web browser. To do this, depending on the network configuration, enter in the
Web browser address bar:
- Either the indicator's host name HOST NAME (default value: X112),
- Or its IP address (default value: 192.168.0.100).

Access to this screen can be obtained in all indicator's

operating modes.

• Once the connection is made, the welcome screen

is shown.
