Where should the children reach
through a particular subject? And
Why is it important to reach there?
That means, it is necessary to determine
the aims and objectives of teaching a
particular subject before we undertake
the study of that subject.
No subject can be included in
the school curriculum as an

We have to decide “as to
what” the children should be
able to know, to do and so

“Why should they be able to do
all that?
We must make sure of the intent
avoid be clear in one minds as to
what a subject deals with and
what exactly is to purpose we wish
to pursue and achieve in teaching
and studying it.
Determination of the Aims and Objectives is
also necessary to point to the broad ideals
and to enable us in selecting significant and
meaningful content teaching methods and
techniques.
The Aims of teaching social
studies will have to be in
consonance with broader
aims of education here at
now.
The objectives, which teachers
should have in view while teaching
the subject, have to be precise and
definite.
