I. INTRODUCTION
This module is intended for a one meeting learning on selected topics in Algebra
learners with competency-based worksheets. Each worksheet has desired outcomes that are
based on the learning competencies in k to 12 curriculum guide in Mathematics, specifically
on Trigonometric Identities. Thus, the following activities in this module will help to fully
understand the procedures in Trigonometric Identities involving word problems.

II. OBJECTIVES
In this module, the students will be able to;

III. DEFINITION OF TERMS

TRIGONOMETRY
The word Trigonometry came from the greek word in 16th century which is
“trigonon” means triangle and “metron” means measure. A branch of mathematics that
studies relationships between the sides and angles of triangles. It can help us to find angles
and distances.

BASIC TRIGONOMETRIC IDENTITIES

Trigonometric Identities are equations that are true for right angled triangle. There
three main functions in trigonometry; Sine, Cosine, Tangent. Following are the basic
trigonometric identities; Reciprocal Identities, Quotient Identities, Pythagorean Identities,
Even-Odd Identities, Double Angle Identity.

3. 1 + cot 2 x = csc 2 x 6. tan2 x = sec2 x − 1

Even-Odd Identities
1. Sin(-x)=-sin x 4. Sec(-x)=sec x
