 Scope

This Scope Cover the Welding Procedure Qualification and Procedure Qualification Record
for construction of 4”,6”,8”,12” NB API 5L Gr.X42 Pipeline Naroda GIDC DRS to Ravi
Petroleum BPCL Spurline Project for Ahmedabad City Gas Distribution Project.

 API 1104 &Client Specification

 Method

The Welding Procedure Specification shall be carried out and qualified in accordance with
requirements of API 1104 and Client Specification.
The welded piece shall be tested by 100% Radiography prior to offering for Destructive
testing
In addition to the mechanical test in API 1104, other tests like macro/micro examination,
hardness tests, Charphy‘V’ notch (impact test) shall be carried out on test specimen as per
Client’s Specification and the same is to be witnessed by ICS.
Physical properties of the weld produced by electrodes recommended for the welding of a
particular base metal shall not be lower than the minimum values specified for the base
metal.
DIPL shall submit batch test certificates from the electrode manufacturer giving details of
physical and chemical tests carried out for each batch of electrodes to be used.
DIPL shall preserve all electrodes in good condition as recommended by manufacturer. The
electrode used shall be free from rust, oil, grease, earth and other foreign materials which
affect the quality of welding.
Welding Procedure Specification approved by ICS can only be put into practice by
approved qualified welders.
The Welding Procedure Qualification test shall be carried out and qualified in accordance
with requirement of API 1104 and as per Client’s Specification.
