3. TARGET MEAN STRENGTH OF CONCRETE
fck = fck + t*s
Where fck = Target average compressive strength at 28 days.
fck = characteristic compressive strength at 28 days= 25.00 N/mm2
t= statistics = 1.65 for accepted proportion of low results 1 in 20
s = standard deviation for good of control= 4.50
fck= 32.425. N/mm2
Target Mean Strength to be adopted for =: M - 25 32 N/mm2
4. SELECTION OF WATER CEMENT RATIO.

ratio for target mean strength = 0.49 max. value of 0.50 prescribe for
Moderate exposure (1S-456-2000)
5. SELECTION OF WATER CONTENT
Water content in mix for 20 mm nominal size aggregate from table-2 of IS10262 = 186 Ltr./
Cub. MT for 25 to 50 mm slump range
Increase in water content 3 % for 75 mm slump
Estimated water content = 192 Litre
If superplasticizer is used or by trial, Water content can be reduced up to 20% and above
Based on trials, Water content reduction of 1.00 % has been achieved Hence the arrived
water content = 190 Litre
6. CALCULATION OF CEMENT CONTENT
Water cement ratio W/C = 0.49
Cement content = 387 Kg/c.mt. 387 Kg/cub mtr.>= min cement level
Say = 387 Kg/c.mt. 300 kg/cub. Mtr.(IS-456-2000 )
