BSP COOKERY MECHANICS AND CRITERIA

BAMBOO COOKING MECHANICS

1. Participating school is allowed to send two (2) participants only.


2. Each school is required to submit one (1) cup of rice to the facilitator before the contest. Bring water can
filled with water, and a bamboo (no exact size / no exact measurement) that serves as cooking pot.
3. During the contest, only the two (2) participants shall perform the activities. Any violation is subject to
disqualification.
4. The participants shall not go beyond the 30 minutes cooking time including preparation. Violation to the
rule is subject to 10 points deduction.

EGG FRYING MECHANICS

1. Participating school is allowed to send two (2) participants only.


2. Each school is required bring one (1) piece of egg, one (1) piece of paper any size that serves as cooking
pot, and cooking oil.
3. During the contest, only the two (2) participants shall perform the activities. Any violation is subject to
disqualification.
4. The participants shall not go beyond the 20 minutes cooking time including preparation. Violation to the
rule is subject to 10 points deduction.

EGG ROASTING MECHANICS

EGG BOILING MECHANICS

CAMP BREAD MECHANICS

1. Participating school composed of one (1) patrol only.

2. Each school is required bring one (1) piece of egg, one (1) kilo class c flour, sugar, basin, table, and water
can filled with water.

3. During the contest, only the two (2) participants shall perform the activities. Any violation is subject to
disqualification.

LASHING / TOWER BUILDING MECHANICS

1. Participating school composed of one (1) patrol only.

2. Each participating school is required to bring rope, and three (3) pieces 2 meters long bamboo stick (must
be submitted to the facilitator for inspection for safety purposes)Note: Be sure that the 3 pieces of bamboo
stick can hold a weight up to 60 kilos above.

3. Start the lashing with timber hitch or clove hitch. Tuck the loose end. See attached figure.

4. The participants shall use TRIPOD LASHING. With 5-7 wrapping turns and 3 frapping turns. See attached
figure.

5. Finish the lashing with clove hitch. See attached figure.

6. After the lashing, set-up the TRIPOD. Assigned one (1) scout to climb at the top of the tripod and render a
salute (sitting position)to the facilitator.

7. Nobody will hold the tripod during the rendering of salute until recognize by the facilitator.

8. During the contest, only the participants shall perform the activities. Any violation is subject to
disqualification.

9. The participants shall not go beyond the 10 minutes. Violation to the rule is subject to 15 points
deduction.

BANDAGING / IMPROVISE STRETCHER MECHANICS

1. Participating school composed of one (1) patrol only.

2. Two (2) of the participants shall wear a complete TYPE A uniform.

3. Bring 2 meters round timber/bamboo with 1 ½ - 2 inches diameter.

4. Make improvised stretcher with the use of two (2) scout shirts or two (2) coats. To strengthen use scout
belts beneath the shirts.

5. The patrol is divided into 2 groups. First group composed of five (5) members including the 1 out of 5 that
act as an injured person. Second group is composed of four (4) members.

6. The task of the first group is to do the bandaging for the injured person (injured head, fractured arm,
fractured legs, and injured eye).

7. The second group shall make the stretcher (see attached figure) and transport the injured person to the
hospital using the improvise stretcher.

8. During the contest, only the participants shall perform the activities. Any violation is subject to
disqualification.

9. The participants shall not go beyond the 15 minutes. Violation to the rule is subject to 15 points
deduction.

Whole Bean-Hole
Ingredients:
½ kilo beans
1 large onion, chopped
2 bell peppers, chopped
1 clove of garlic, chopped
2 tablespoon margarine
Salt and sugar to taste
Water

Procedure:
Wash and soak beans for 6 hours. Boil until the bean skin splits. Mix the rest of the ingredients. Pour it to the
clean empty cans. Any type of can may be used if it has a lid that fits securely.
To prepare the bean hole, dig a hole about a foot and a half wider and a foot deeper than the pot to be used.
Line the hole with stones to keep the heat in and give an even baking temperature. Start to fire on sticks of fire
woods laid crosswise over the hole. As this fires burn, the hot coals will fall into the hole. When the hole is almost full
with coals, then it is now ready to cook the beans. Shovel out the coals, then, put the pot in the center of the hole
for 6 to 8 hours.
