CONCLUSIONS

• Ongoing costs of operation and


maintenance of petroleum custody
transfer measurement systems over a 20
year project life can predominate over
initial equipment investment.
• It is important to design the equipment for
low ongoing costs. Initial cost may be
higher to do this.
• Sophisticated diagnostic systems and
equipment can reduce ongoing costs; for
example condition based maintenance.
CONCLUSIONS

• Operation and maintenance of these


systems requires specialists trained on the
large variety of components comprising
the systems with oversight by engineers.
• Systematic scheduling of preventive
maintenance and corrective maintenance
can lead to lower maintenance costs.
• A sophisticated reporting system enables
greater transparency of total costs and
facilitates decisions to optimize costs.

A result of Benchmarking Exercise conducted in


2007 against regional and International oil
companies and standards organizations such as
