This is regarding “Construction of proposed H.L. Bridge over
BATA Nallah on Boinda To BeleiNali in the district of Angul under R&B
Division, Anugul.
The Superintending Engineer, (R&B) circle, Dhenkanal has
transmitted hydraulic particulars and soil investigation report of the
above-mentioned bridge; vide letter No.652/WE dt 25/03/2019.
Hydraulic parameters furnished by S.E. were taken in to consideration
and the following are arrived at.
1. Discharge at
B/S: 406.44 cumecs
U/S: 401.78 cumecs
D/S: 493.5 cumecs
Discharge by Catchment area: 295.36 cumecs
Design Discharge: 528.37Cumecs
2. H.F.L. – R.L: 99.200m
3. Rugocity co-efficient: 0.033
4. Ksf---- 1.50(assumed)
5. Velocity—2.47m/sec
6. HFL spread up: (Approximately)
U/S: 60 m
B/S: 53 m
D/S: 50 m

Taking in to consideration the active channel portion, span


arrangement of 5x10.76 m (C/C of expansion joint) is proposed.
Considering the soil investigation reports, open Foundation is proposed
resting on fractured rock for which following are founding Levels.

1. Mean depth of scour—5.81 m below H.F.L, i.e., at RL:93.391m


2. Maximum depth of scour
Abutment- 7.38m below H.F.L. --- M.S.L at R. L 91.82m
Pier- 11.62m below H.F.L. --- M.S.L at R.L 87.58 m
Taking in to account the afflux, vertical clearance, depth of super
structure and thickness of wearing coat the minimum formation level is
R.L.101.515 m. Hence the formation level is proposed to be fixed at
R.L 101.515 m. RCC slab Super Structure of 10.76m span (C/C of
expansion joint) and 8.5 m width (7.50m carriage way with crash barrier
on both side), is being proposed. The S.B.C at the founding level of
Abutment is found to be 24.083T/m2 and pier (4) is 20.790T/m2, Hence
SBC of the fractured rock strata below the abutment and pier should
not be less than 30T/m2 & 30T/m2 respectively which is to be ensured
in field before execution of work.

The individual open Foundation (AL,P1,P2,P3,P4,AR), abutments, piers,


return walls and cantilever wing walls are designed as R.C.C. structures
and the same is placed with” General Arrangement Drawings” for kind
approval.
