MINI TESLA COIL:

Introduction:
• A Tesla Coil is a circuit that generates a high
voltage, high frequency electromagnetic field even
from a low voltage DC source.

• Slayer exciter is simplest version of tesla coil as

slayer exciter requires only some basic
components(transistor, resistor, a primary coil and
a secondary coil) and also it is does not produce
much heat because it consumes less power.
TOOLS USED:
1. ENAMELED COPPER WIRE(L=20
M, D=.3mm).
2. Transistor – 2N2222A.
3. RESISTANCE – 2.2K OHM.
4. KEY.
5. CELL – 9V.
6. PVC PIPE (12CM).
7. CONNECTING WIRE.
WORKING PRINCIPLE:
The Tesla coil works with the principleof
Electromagnetic Induction. According to
which, when a conductor is placed under a
varying magnetic field, a small current will
be induced inside the conductor.
How does it work:

1. Turning the circuit on, R drives the base of the

transistor Q
2. Q turns on and drives current into the primary of the
transformer. The current is limited by the limited
available base current.
3. The created magnetic field drives the secondary of
the transformer.
4. The secondary voltage wants to grows large. But the
tiny stray capacitance on the output resists the
change, although very small, against the rise of the
output end and so in return the voltage on the other
end of the transformer goes down, pulling the base
of the transistor low.
5. Diode D prevents the base voltage to fall more than
0.7V below ground, which in return pushes the
output end of the secondary high.
6. The transistor turns off and so the magnetic field
starts to reduce.
7. The base voltage rises again and Q turns on and the
cycle repeats.

Circuit diagram:
Procedure to construct a Tesla
coil:
1. Take pvc pipe and winde 300-400 turns of 28G
copper wire.[Primary coil]
2. Apply tape at bottom and winde 4-5 turns of 22G
copper wire [Secondary coil].
3. Now remove enamel of copper wires at end.
4. Solder 22k ohm resistor to the base of 2n2222
transistor.
5. Solder bottom end wire of primary coil to base.
6. Solder one end of secondary coil to collector.
7.Solder Positive terminal of battery clip to Switch and
negative terminal to emitter pin.
8. Now solder another end of secondary coil and another
pin of switch to the free end of 22k resistor.
9. Leave the top end wire of primary coil free in air.

Result:
Whenever we bring a fluorscent bulb close to the secondary
winding, after switching on the circuit, The bulb glows
producing high intensity light as bulb glows when supplied ac
power. It is the transmission of electrical energy from
power source to electric load, over a distance, without
usage of wires or cables.
The key parameter in transmitting power is efficiency.
Conventional methods of transmitting power don’t have
high capacity of transmitting energy with less power
loss.Long range communication is possible which is
impossible with conventional method, is achieved with
this technology.

Conclusion:
Doing this project we conclude that with the help of this kind
of technology, wireless power transmission can be made
possible and this technology will help us in eradicating the
hazardous uses of electrical wires and
Huge power losses in transmission. It is envisaged that
wireless energy would be really accomplished with the
advantage of easy implementation and cost effective
i.e., cost of transmission and distribution overhead
would become less. In the long run, this could reduce
our society’s dependence on batteries, which are
currently heavy and expensive.
WIRES… A BURDEN!!!
Future Applications:
Wireless electricity transmission can change the world of
electricity and electrical engineering. The power loss due to
transmission lines can be reduced(no I square R loss).
Less amount of wires would be used in any circuit.
