Community Visit
Barangay 714

On November 25, 2019, we went to Barangay 714, Leveriza, to conduct our project
implementation. We were assigned to go there at around 1pm but around 11am it
suddenly rained and we all got worried because we might not be able to go to the barangay.
Luckily for us the rained stopped at around 12nn. At around 1:30 pm, we started to depart
the school and walked to Barangay 714. We had a final meeting with the barangay officials
and leaders at the ALS.

One of the barangay kagawad guided us to a house along Fidel Reyes St. The house
we first went was talking to the barangay kagawad. He said that the families (3 families
were living there) were all busy. They are either sleeping, taking a rest, feeding their kids,
or not feeling well. Our group was standing there for almost 10 minutes because almost
none of them wanted to participate. The guy inside there said that our group should have
went here in the morning instead of the afternoon because all of the families in this
neighborhood are all busy. I noticed that during the talk between the barangay kagawad
and the guy. It seemed like the people in this barangay were not aware that another batch
of students were going in the afternoon to conduct the project implementation. I hope
that the barangay officials announce a days before that students will be conducting a
project so that the families are aware and will be willing to participate.

Luckily for us one of the nanays inside the house were in was willing to participate
in our project. She invited us outside of the house. We were also able to invite two other
nanay in our demonstration. We were on the streets conducting our project. We started
of by informing the nanays about the dengue then proceeded on showing the DIY
Mosquito trap. After showing how to do it, we asked them if they wanted to try how to do
it and they said yes. While guiding them how to do it they were asking some questions
regarding the trap that’s why we felt happy because they were interested and feel informed
about dengue and the DIY mosquito trap. After finishing the demonstration, we gave
them their finished DIY mosquito trap and also a token to each nanay for their
participation. The nanays felt happy because they are going to use it inside their homes.

After our demonstration, we head back to ALS to rest up because we already

finished our demonstration. After all the groups were finished with conducting their DIY
mosquito traps, the class gathered along with the barangay officials. Two of our
classmates showed the barangay officials how to do it and informed them about dengue.
We donated around 6 DIY mosquito traps to the barangay. The barangay officials were
satisfied with our project implementation because it was easy to do and low-cost.

Overall, this project implementation was successful because everyone participated

in our project. The barangay and officials were satisfied with the DIY mosquito traps we
made. Each student was able to contribute and help in making this project
implementation successful.
