4Ps a Big Help
One of the program of the government to help the Filipino people raise their
financial status is 4Ps. Through the leadership of DSWD , the low income Filipinos
are given financial assistance for their foods , health and schooling of their children.
Before the implementation of the program, a research was conducted to serve as
basis for the financial assistance from the government The researchers used
different statistical tools like quartiles, deciles and percentiles to determine the
economic status of Filipino families.
Example salaries :
3000, 2200, 2500, 8000, 1500, 9000, 11000, 1800, 2000, 15000

Presenting objectives:
At the end of the day, students should be able to:
1. Define deciles of ungrouped data.
2. Determine the position of D1, D2, ... of a given set of data.
3. Interpret the result of deciles.
The deciles are nine score-points which divides the distribution into ten equal
groups. Deciles are denoted as D1 , D2 , D3 , ... , D9 .They are computed in the same
way as the quartiles are computed.

To locate the position of deciles , the formula is Dk = 10 (N+1)

INTERPRETING DECILE RESULTS
For example a survey conducted about the height of 400 Grade 10 students of
Mintal comprehensive High School and it shows the following results:
D2 = 1.46 m
It means that 20% (0.20 x 400 = 80 ) of MCHS students have an height shorter
than or equal to 1.46 meters.
OR
It means that 80%(0.80 x 400 = 320 ) of MCHS students have an height more than
1.46 meters.

Conduct a survey regarding the time you sleep at night ( 9:00, 9:30, 10:00 etc).
Arrange the data in ascending order and solve the D3..
GROUP 2 (ENGLISH)
Select a word that can describe yourself (beautiful, tall, cute etc.).
Count the letters and arrange the data in ascending order and solve D5.
GROUP 3 (TLE)
Conduct a survey regarding the daily allowance ( P20, P25,P30 etc).
Arrange the data in ascending order and solve D6.
Conduct a survey regarding the time (in hour) spent using your cp, tablet, and
other gadgets everyday ( 1 hr, 2 hrs, 2.5 hrs, etc). Arrange the data in ascending
order and solve D8.
GROUP 5 (EsP)
Conduct a survey regarding the time spent in praying ( 3 min, 5 mins etc)
Arrange the data and solve D5.
