Results and Discussion

This chapter contains the tabular presentation of the data gathered as well as their

corresponding analysis and interpretation. This were presented as well as their corresponding

analysis and interpretation. This were presented according to the specific questions presented in

Chapter 1.

Level of Frequency of the Family Problems encountered by the BCU-SHS students

Table 1 shows the level of frequency of the Family Problems encountered by the BCU-

SHS students as perceived by the Grade-11 HUMSS students. The computed average weighted

mean was 1.97 signifies that the Family Problems encountered by the BCU-SHS students are

sometimes.

In detail, Financial Problem gained the highest rating of 2.18 with a descriptive

equivalent of sometimes. This outcome implies that this Family Problem is the most problem

encountered by the BCU-SHS students considering that the respondents are knowledgeable on

the given questions of the study. It was followed by Child Abuse at 2.13, Favoritism, Breakdown

in Communication, Avoidance, Quarrels/Argument, Sexual Abuse, Spouse Battering/Fights, and

Violence at 1.46 with a descriptive equivalent of Never. On the contrary, Divorce,

Unfaithfulness, and Child Molestation had both gained the rating of 1.43 with a descriptive value

of Never. According to the Grade 11 Students this are the Family Problems encountered by the

BCU-SHS students.

Based on the results on the table below, Financial Problem got the highest level of

frequency of the Family problems encountered by the BCU-SHS students. It also entails that

Child Abuse, Favoritism, Breakdown in Communication, Avoidance, Quarrels/Arguments,

Sexual Abuse, and Spouse Battering/Fights may also be the Family Problems encountered by the

BCUSHS Students.

Table 1A shows the level of frequency of the Family Problem encountered by the

BCUSHS students as perceived by the Grade 12 HUMSS students. The computed weighted

mean was 1.95 signifies that the respondents believe that the Family Problems encountered by

the BCUSHS students are Sometimes.

In details, Financial Problem and Quarrels/Argument had both got the highest

weighted mean of 2.4 interpreted as Sometimes. This outcome implies that this problem is the

most Family Problems encountered by the BCU-SHS students considering that the respondents

are knowledgeable on the given questions of the study. It was followed by Violence at 2.02,

Favoritism and Breakdown in Communication at 2.00, Spouse Battering/Fights and Avoidance at

1.95, Child Abuse at 1.93, Child Molestation at 1.78 and Unfaithfulness and Sexual Assaults at

1.73. On the other hand, Divorce gained the lowest rating of 1.58 with a descriptive equivalent of

Never. According to the students these are the Family Problems encountered by the BCU-SHS

students.

Based on the results on the table below, both Financial Problem and Quarrels/Arguments

got the highest level of Family Problem that encountered BCU-SHS students. It also entails that

Violence, Favoritism, Breakdown in Communication, Spouse Battering/Fights, Avoidance, Child

Abuse, Child Molestation, Unfaithfulness and Sexual Abuse may also be the Family Problem

encountered by the BCU-SHS students.

Table 1B shows the results of the combined/compared perception of the respondents

Grade 11 and Grade 12 students for the level of frequency of the Family problems encountered
by the BCU-SHS students with an average weighted mean of 1.78 signifies that the respondents

believe that the Family Problems encountered by the BCUSHS students are Sometimes.

In detail, Financial Problem got the highest average weighted mean of 1.80 interpreted as

Sometimes followed by Child Abuse with an average weighted mean of 2.03 interpreted as

Sometimes , Quarrels/Argument with an average weighted mean of 1.99 interpreted as

Sometimes, Favoritism with an average weighted mean of 1.89 interpreted as Sometimes,

Breakdown in Communication with an average weighted mean of 1.82 interpreted as Sometimes,

Avoidance with an average weighted mean of 1.81 interpreted as Sometimes, Violence with an

average weighted mean of 1.74 interpreted as Sometimes, Spouse Battering/Fights with an

average weighted mean of 1.72 interpreted as Sometimes, Child Molestation and Sexual Abuse

with an average weighted mean of 1.60 interpreted as Never also with Unfaithfulness with an

average weighted mean of 1.59 interpreted as Never. On the other hand, Divorce got the lowest

total average weighted mean of 1.82 with a descriptive equivalent of Never.

Based on the results of the table below, the Financial Problem has the highest level of

problem encountered by the BCU-SHS students. It also entails that Child Abuse,

Quarrels/Arguments, Favoritism, Breakdown in Communication, Avoidance, Violence, Spouse

Battering/Fights, Child Molestation, Sexual Molestation and Unfaithfulness may also be the

Family Problem encountered by the BCU-SHS students.

Level of Impact of the Family Problems to the Academic Performance of BCU-SHS

students

Table 2 shows the level of impact of the Family Problem to the academic performance of

BCU-SHS students as perceived by the Grade 11 students. The computed average weighted

mean was 2.33 signifies that the respondents believe that the impact of the Family Problems to

the academic performance of BCU-SHS students are Moderate Impact.

In details, Poor Grades gained the highest rating of 2.25 with a descriptive equivalent of

Moderate. This outcome signifies that this Family Problem is the most that affect the academic

performance of BCU-SHS students considering that the respondents are knowledgeable on the

given questions of the study. It was followed by Stress at 2.13, Low Self Esteem at 2.05, Lack of

Concentration at 2.03, Drop-Out at 1.95, and Using Drugs or Alcohol to cope or escape at 1.83

interpreted as Moderate Impact. On the other hand, Difficult in Eating or Sleeping gained the

lowest rating of 1.8 with a descriptive equivalent of Least Impact. According to the students of

Grade 11, this are the impacts of Family Problem to the academic performance of BCU-SHS

students.
Based on the results on the table below, Poor Grade has the highest level of impact of the

Family Problems to the academic performance of BCU-SHS students. It also entails that Stress,

Low Self Esteem, lack of concentration, Drop-Out and Using Alcohol to cope or escape may

also be the impact of the Family Problem to the academic performance of BCU-SHS students.

2.2, and Difficulty in Eating or Sleeping at 2.03 interpreted as Moderate Impact. On the other

hand, Using Alcohol or Drugs to cope or escape gained the lowest rating of 2.00 interpreted as

Moderate Impact.

Based on the results on the table below, both Poor Grades and Low Self Esteem got the

highest Impact of the Family Problem to the academic performance of BCU-SHS students. It

also entails that Lack of Concentration, Drop Out and Difficulty in Eating or Sleeping may also

be the Impact of the Family Problems to the academic performance of BCU-SHS students.

Moderate Impact followed by Poor Grades at 2.24 interpreted as Moderate Impact, Low Self

Esteem at 2.15 interpreted as Moderate Impact, Lack of Concentration at 2.13 interpreted as

Moderate Impact, and Drop-Out at 2.08 interpreted as Moderate Impact. On the other hand, both

Using Alcohol or Drugs to cope or escape and Difficulty in Eating or Sleeping got the lowest

average weighted mean of 1.97 with a descriptive equivalent of Moderate Impact.

Based on the results on the table below, Stress has the highest impact of the Family

Problems to the academic performance of BCU-SHS students. It also entails that Poor Grades,

Low Self Esteem, Lack of Concentration and Drop-Out may also be the impact of Family

Problems to the academic performance of BCU-SHS students.

Table 3 shows the level of contribution of the impacts of the Family Problem to the

academic performance of BCU-SHS students as perceived by the Grade 11 HUMSS students.

The computed average weighted mean was 2.06 signifies that the respondents believe that

contribution of the impact of Family Problem to the academic performance of BCU-SHS

students are Moderate Contribution


In details, Negative Emotions (Anger, Sadness, Anxiety) gained the highest rating of 2.18

with a descriptive equivalent of Moderate Contribution. This outcome signifies that that this

contribution had the most impact of Family Problem to the academic performance of BCU-SHS

students considering that the respondents are knowledgeable on the given questions of the study,

it was followed by Feeling Isolated, Alone or Withdrawn at 2.03 with a descriptive equivalent of

Moderate Contribution. On the contrary, both Confusion and Mental Illness gained the lowest

rating of 2 interpreted as Moderate Contribution. According to the students of Grade 11 HUMSS

students this are the contribution of the impacts of Family Problem to the academic performance

of BCU-SHS students.

students. It also entails that Mental Illness and Confusion may also be the contribution of the

impact of Family Problem to the academic performance of BCU-SHS students.

as Moderate Contribution, and Feeling Isolated, Alone or Withdrawn at 2.18 interpreted as


Moderate Contribution. On the other hand, Confusion got the lowest contribution of the impacts

of Family Problem to the academic performance of BCU-SHS students at 2.12 interpreted as

Moderate Contribution.

Based on the result on the table below, Mental Illness got the highest contribution of the

impacts of Family Problem to the academic performance of BCU-SHS students. It also entails

that Negative Emotions (Anger, Sadness, Anxiety) and Feeling Isolated, Alone or Withdrawn

may also be the contribution of the impacts of Family Problem to the academic performance of

BCU-SHS students.

Table 4 shows the level of effectiveness of the advice to BCU-SHS students on the

Family Problem they encountered as perceived by Grade 11 HUMSS students. The computed

average weighted mean was 2.32 signifies that the respondents believe that the effectiveness of

the advice to the BCU-SHS students on the Family Problem they encountered are Effective.

In details, both Talk to Friends/Family, and Seek Information on Overcoming Family

Problem has the highest rating of 2.33 interpreted as Effective followed by Consult a Counselor

at 2.15 interpreted as Effective. Contrary to this who has the lowest rating is Have fun together

with your Family who has a weighted mean of 2.5 interpreted as Effective. According to the

Grade 11 HUMSS students this are the advice to BCU-SHS students on the Family Problem the

encountered.

Based on the results on the table below, both Talk to Friends/Family, and Seek

Information on Overcoming Family Problem got the highest effectiveness on the advice to BCU-

SHS students on the Family Problem they encountered. It also entails that Consult a Counselor

may also be the effective advice to the BCU-SHS students on the Family Problem they

encountered.

students. The computed average weighted mean was 2.41 interpreted as Very Effective.

In details, Have fun together with your Family got the highest weighted mean of 2.53

interpreted Very Effective followed by Talk to Friends/Family at 2.48 interpreted as Very

Effective and Consult a Counselor at 2.38 interpreted as Very Effective. On the other hand, Seek
Information on Overcoming Family Problem got the lowest total weighted mean of 2.25

interpreted as Effective.

Based on the results on the table below, Have fun together with your Family got the

highest effectiveness on the advice to BCU-SHS students on the Family Problem they

encountered. It also entails that Talk to Friends/Family and Consult a Counselor may also be the

effective advice to the BCU-SHS students on the Family Problem they encountered.

2.37 signifies that the respondents believe that the level of effectiveness of the advice to BCU-

SHS students on the Family Problem they encountered are Very Effective.
