Coronaviruses are a large group of viruses that can root to a lot of diseases in humans and animals.
The 2019-Novel Corona Virus (nCoV) is a virus that can give rise to various illnesses and
infections in your nose, sinuses, or upper throat that may lead to even more serious respiratory
diseases. It’s symptoms usually covers an upper respiratory infection which includes runny nose,
coughing, sore throat, difficulty in breathing, and shortness of breath.

The first cases of the virus were found in Wuhan, China where 44 people from this city were
confirmed to have been infected. It was then named as a “mystery viral pneumonia” since the
symptoms shown were coughing, fever, shortness of breath, and difficulty in breathing. As of the
moment, there were also cases confirmed in Shanghai and Beijing. The epidemic also stretched
out to neighboring countries like South Korea, Japan, and Thailand, in which the infected
individuals have a history of travel to Wuhan. It has been believed that this virus originated in
animals and was just transferred to humans by contact, according to Chinese health officials, but
is still yet to confirm. However, the diseases becoming known from the 2019 nCoV cannot be
treated through vaccination. Only through close monitoring, symptom management, and rest can
the disease be controlled as of the moment.

Department of Health and the World Health Organization are reminding the people to practice
proper hygiene since its transmission may be from contacts with humans and animals. The public
was also urged to practice frequent hand washing and refrain from getting unprotected contact with
wild or farm animals. Maintaining proper distance and covering your nose and mouth with towel
and tissue has to be observed as well when coughing. DOH and WHO are seeking the public’s
attention to ensure that the food they are serving and will be eating is well-cooked while the
possible source of the virus is yet to be identified. The Bureau of Quarantine’s health department
is on high alert, especially with passengers who are coming from Wuhan and China that are
exhibiting fever or symptoms of respiratory infection. The office will also extend the notice to the
airlines and remind them of the actions they have to perceive and observe in light of the outbreak.
Universal protective kits on board will also be given to airlines and remind them of the measures
that they have to keep in mind in handling cases on board and giving an account of the cases to the
authorities on the ground. The Department of Health also stated that the health workers are also
expected to be more watchful when it comes to contacting with patients with an acute infection in
the respiratory, especially those patients who has a history of travel in China.
