KL-UCMP Traction

Examination and Tests before putting into service

Gearless Machine / Genius 20 Controller

This document 'KL-UCMP Traction – Examination and Tests before putting into service' is intended to be
used in Kleemann traction gearless lifts equipped with relevelling function and concerns all the parties
(inspectors, Notified Bodies, technicians) involved in this procedure. The aim of the test is to check detection
and stopping elements of uncontrolled car movements with open doors.

Warning: Trained personnel with expertise in electrical and electronic systems shall perform
all the tests

A) Upwards movement

In order to test the protection means against uncontrolled upward car movement, the car shall be empty
and all landing doors shall be closed.
The following steps shall be followed carefully with respect to all safety rules:
1. Move the car on the floor below the top landing. The car shall be leveled to the landing.
2. Interrupt the safety chain through the FC MCB.
3. Simulate an “open door” status by disconnecting the wire from the HRC:LDL terminal (or HRC:LDL2
in case of two doors with common opening according to EN 81-20).
4. Switch on the FC MCB. The S6 input (end of safety chain) in the Genius 20 KMREL board must be
deactivated.
5. Alternatively to Steps 2-4, open slightly the top landing door and place an obstacle to keep it open. In
this case, a barrier has to be placed in front of the landing door in order to ensure that no unauthorized
person will be close to it.
6. Type 700 in the Genius 20 hand terminal CMD menu and press OK. With this special command,
Genius 20 will apply a short to the door safeties when a call is registered for as long as the lift is in the
landing zone.
7. Enter a call to the top level through the Genius 20 hand terminal.
8. As soon as the car leaves the releveling zone, the releveling circuit will stop the safety chain bridging,
resulting the engagement of the brake and the stoppage of the car.
9. The controller goes out of order with a permanent error “UCM Fault” which can be reset only by
entering code 700 and pressing OK in the Genius 20 hand terminal CMD menu.

ATTENTION! After the completion of the field test, make sure that the controller and the inverter
are back to their previous status.
B) Downwards movement

In order to test the protection means against uncontrolled downward car movement, the car shall be
loaded with the rated load and all landing doors shall be closed.

The following steps shall be followed carefully with respect to all safety rules:
1. Move the car on the floor above the lowest landing.
2. Interrupt the safety chain through the FC MCB.
3. Simulate an “open door” status by disconnecting the wire from the HRC:LDL terminal (or HRC2:LDL2
in case of two doors with common opening according to EN 81-20).
7. Enter a call to the lower level through the Genius 20 hand terminal.
8. As soon the car leaves the landing zone, the releveling circuit will stop the safety chain bridging,
resulting the engagement of the brake and the stoppage of the car.
9. The controller goes out of order with a permanent error “UCM Fault” which can be reset only by
entering code 700 and pressing OK in the Genius 20 hand terminal CMD menu.

ATTENTION! After the completion of the field test, make sure that the controller and the inverter
are back to their previous status.
C) Self-monitoring check

The self-monitoring is carried out through microswitches that check the actual state of the brakes. In order
to check the self-monitoring, follow the steps below according to the motor drive used in the lift:

ZETADYN 4C

1. Have the lift parked in a landing.

2. Use the Genius 20 hand terminal to navigate to menu Parameter  Input/Output  General inputs
and locate parameter “I: Check Brake 3”. Write down the parameter’s address and then delete it.

3. Press at the same time the Brake Test Switch (BTS) and Brake Coil 1 Test Button (BTB1).

4. Perform a test run.

5. The error message "380 BR:Fault Start" must be displayed on ZETAPAD and the lift must not be able
to move anymore, otherwise the monitor is faulty.

6. Reset the permanent error by setting Monitoring <UNLOCK to ON.

7. Repeat the test for the second brake coil this time by activating BTS and ΒΤΒ2.
8. Restore the parameter’s address to its original value.

YASKAWA L1000A

1. Have the lift parked in a landing.

2. From the Yaskawa Hand terminal set the value of parameter H1-03 and H1-04 from 79 to 5B.

3. An SE4 fault should be triggered.

4. The lift must not be able to move anymore.

5. Restore the value of H1-03 and H1-04 from 5B to 79.

6. Reset the permanent error by setting by setting S6-18 to 1.
