 CHAPTER 1:

THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND

Introduction

On many tropical countries, stain is big part of our everyday life. With the balmy weather,

we encounter different types of stains such as blood stains, sweat stains, ink stains, and many stains

that we encounter on our everyday life. We as a human being, we hate stains on our clothes and

we also hate removing stains when doing our laundries. We knew that removing stain on clothes

gives us a hard time when washing our clothes. Stain on our clothes sometimes degrade our self

esteem, because of the fact that we are naturally artsy on the clothes we wear and we always want

to look pristine and squeaky clean on public.

We all know that the stain is usual problem in every household. According to the other

researcher stain is one man's worst enemy , therefore they conduct study about stain.

Unfortunately, no matter how they try to remove stains it appears in their clothes . The good thing

is they can remove it through commercial stain removers. The bad thing is the commercialized

detergents that they used is contains chemical substances. Which is, may can cause harmful to

them and to the environment.

Stain is a mark or discoloration in the fabric or on the surface in the cloth . Dirt and other

color materials can used to stain or to mark something. It caused by chemical or physical

interaction of two dissimilar materials. Staining is also used for biochemical research , metal
staining , and art(e.g. ,wood staining, stained glass) . Based on definition stain comes , via The

Middle English disteynen or "discolor", from the Latin tingere "to color or dye."

Our group of researchers came up with a solution that uses Averrhoa bilimbi also known

as kamias as a stain remover. Averrhoa bilimbi has a high oxalic acid content that was used to

remove stain from clothing and from hands. Oxalic acid is a white crystalline solid that forms a

colorless solution in water. Oxalic acid is effective in removing rust and ink stains because it

converts most insoluble iron compounds into a soluble complex ion. If we compare our product to

the other products that currently in the market, we can say that our product is more natural and less

hazardous than other products on the market. We made this as a solution for stain problem here in

mshs sitio mabuhay that students encounter everyday.

Marketing aspects is one of programs used kamias as stain remover through kamias juice.

It effectively clean hand stains, when soap and water can't clean and remove the stain properly.

While other researcher study about kamias as Flowers for tea development. The flower of kamias

can cure cough and thrush through dringking the flower tea . Kamias can use in different ways , it

can be a herbal medicine or as stain remover.

The study is conducted by determination to discover information from the material given.

Seeking the study to be beneficial and unravel its potent properties. The researchers connected

themselves to this study in order for appropriate use of its effectiveness as stain remover. The

proponents chose this study for cases of being feasible and affordable. Assuring money, time and

effort is used responsibly to conduct the study.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

This Action Qualitative Research aims to discover the effectiveness of Kamias as a Stain remover

on clothes among the laundry doers in ordinary households of 11 STEM A students in Mariveles

Senior Highschool Sitio Mabuhay.

This will seek to answer the following questions :

1. What great benefits can be obtained in using kamias as stain remover?

2. How does kamias as a stain remover help the community?

3. Why kamias is effective as alternative stain remover?

SCOPE OF DELIMITATION

This part of the study states the capability and range of the research. The focus of the study

is to show the effectiveness of kamias as alternative stain remover. It will also serve as a guide in

other readers to specificity.

We started our research last month of 2019 and will be until 2020 of March. The study is

applied at Mariveles Senior High School-Sitio Mabuhay in Cabcaben Mariveles Bataan.

People who wash clothes, especially mothers, could benefit from this study and they will

also serve as a respondent in our research. We choose kamias because it has an oxalic acid that can

remove stain to our clothes and it is very affordable and easy to use.
 It also show the possibility of kamias as alternative stain remover which is good at oxalic

acid used for removing stains in a detergent bar. This is also serve as a basis of the readers in the

future product.

The study conducted only strive for its effectiveness on minor stains only and not

exceeding other limits.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

This part of the study states the beneficiaries and the importance of the study in specific aspects.

Future researchers : The study may help futyre researchers to develop their work by using this as

a reference and cope up a better idea for their research.

Consumers : The study may help the consumers to discover a natural,affordable, and available

stain remover. Thus, will be beneficial for them.

Community : The study may help the community continue innovating new products for cleaning

and using it for everyday life.
