ROUTINE ACTIVITIES:
REVIEW:
 Concept of special products: the product of the sum and difference
of binomials
MOTIVATION:
PRESENTATION:
 Today, let’s learn factoring the difference of two squares.
ACTIVITY :
1. The teacher will post mathematical expressions on the board
showing the difference if two squares and its factors.
 The teacher will let the students observe the equation and let them
discover idea/concept on how to factor the difference of two
squares.
ANALYSIS:
 Based on the equations observed by the students the teacher will
ask the following question to rule out the idea of the students in
their observation process.
1. What is the first term of each polynomial?
2. What is the last term of each polynomial?
3. What is the middle sign of each polynomial?
4. How was the polynomial factored?
5. What pattern is seen in the factors of the difference of the two
squares?
6. Can all expression be factored using difference of two squares?
Why? Why not?
ABSTRACTION:
 When can you factor expressions using difference of two
squares?
APPLICATION:
A. Solve for the factor of the following expressions.
1. 4x2 – 16y2
2. 9m2 – 16n2
3. 36x2 – 25
ASSIGNMENT:
B. Solve for the factor of the following expressions.
1. 49 – x2
2. m2 – n2
3. 16v2 – w2
