The Sory of Keesh

Content Standard:
The learner demonstrates understanding of how world literature and
other text types serve as sources of wisdom in expressing and resolving
conflicts among individuals, groups, and nature, also how to use evaluate
reading, listening and viewing strategies, special speeches for occasion,
pronouns and structure of modification.

Performance Standard:
The learner skillfully delivers a speech for special occasion through
utilizing effective verbal and non-verbal strategies and ICT resources.

I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
a. identify the purpose of the author in writing the story;
b. identify the dominant traits of the character in the story; and
c. create a song that captures the message of the story.

B. Pre-reading
Activity 1. Motivation
Let the students watch a videoclip about heroic sacrifice and
ask them what was the video all about.

Activity 2. Motive Question:


From the story you are about to read, I want you to find out
what sacrifices did the main character made so that society would
appreciate what was his father did in the community.

Silent reading of the story.

Comprehesion Check – Group Work

Students work in group and answer the comprehension


questions. A class discussion will soon follow.

1. How is the story of Keesh remebere from one generation to the


next?
2. What does the author mean (paragraph 2) by “he had seen
thirteen suns?” Why only thirteen?
3. How did the mean react to Keesh’s statements in the council
meeting?

E. Evaluation:
Directions: In a ½ crosswise sheet of paper, create a song that best
captures the message of the story.

IV. Assignment:
Make an essay about “Heroic Sacrifice” in not more than 300 words.
