Lifestyle & Interiors Global Colour

Our Global Colour report presents palettes tailored to lifestyle and interiors for A/W
20/21, plus our pick of the season's six must-have tones

Sixstreetunder / Ana Domínguez

Action Points
Welcome to our Global Colour report – your first view of what A/W
20/21 will look like for lifestyle and interiors. The following edit of
colours is inspired by the duality of life at the start of a new decade,
when we will spend more time in the digital world, but also look to
intensify our connections with nature. This is reflected in a palette of
two parts – one featuring true natural tones, and the other with
unmistakably artificial hues.
1. Celebrate digital tones: we will continue to spend more time
interacting through screens, and this will change the way we view
colour. It's time to embrace unashamedly artificial hues.
2. Focus on sustainable colours: explore tones that can be produced
with less harm to the environment, as well as colours that will feel
relevant beyond autumn/winter.
3. Embrace single-colour statements: in an era overloaded with
information, focusing on a single colour will be an increasingly
important way to stand out and make a pure statement, especially on
social media.
4. Upgrade your neutrals: we will expect more from colour in an
WGSN Original Image
increasingly visual age, and this includes neutrals. Browns, blues and
greys will become more sophisticated, and the perception of them as
being dull or boring will shift.
5. Make palettes transseasonal: include typically summer hues in
winter collections, and vice versa, to create designs that are more
flexible, and less tied to a particular season.

Green is the most prevalent colour group
this season, ranging from off-kilter artificial
tones to deep natural hues. Blues will
continue to evolve, with more vibrant violet
tones adding drama. Browns, oranges and
yellows will also become increasingly
relevant as the resurgence in craft and

Key Colour A/W 20/21

Redwood
Why is it key? The perception of brown has seen a 180-
degree shift recently, from a tone with sludgy
connotations to one that feels aspirational and
luxurious. Redwood offers a warmer evolution of brown
for A/W 20/21, and follows on from the popularity of
reds.
How to use it: This colour is versatile enough to appeal
across a range of interiors categories. It has an
earthiness that will work for kitchenware, walls, lighting,
textiles and decorative accessories.

Violet
Spectrum
Why is it key? We expect Violet Spectrum to make an
impact in A/W 20/21, as warm purple tones continue
to move towards blue hues. This duality gives it
versatility and transseasonal appeal, and the
saturated level adds a sense of intensity and
confidence.
How to use it: This tone will work well for lighting,
furniture, decorative accessories and textiles. It will
have strongest commercial appeal on plush and
luxury fabrics, but can also be used for tinted finishes
on hard materials.

Grey
Why is it key? Grey will remain an important core
colour for interiors, influenced by the resurgence of
concrete and stone materials, and looking back to
Brutalism. Composite Grey offers a cooler evolution
from previous seasons.
How to use it: This confident tone will work across all
interior categories, from decorative accessories to
kids' lifestyle designs, and can be paired with a wide
range of colours.

Digital Teal
Why is it key? This commercial colour is a fusion of
blue and green, which have both been gaining
popularity over recent seasons. Its duality gives it a
versatile and transseasonal appeal, and the
saturation level also adds a sense of confidence and
gravitas.
How to use it: Digital Teal has a depth and richness
that will work well for furniture, textiles, walls and
tabletop. It also has the effect of igniting other hues,
making it an ideal tone to pair with a wide variety of
colours.

progression of brown for A/W 20/21, and has a
transseasonal appeal.

that will add richness to interiors, working well for
textiles, walls, tabletop and upholstery. It also has a

Neo Mint
Why is it key? Neo Mint will continue as a key colour
from our S/S 20 palette, highlighting its enduring
appeal, as well as the growing importance of
transseasonal tones. It evolves from the popularity of
soft pastels such as Millennial Pink, and embodies a
forward-thinking and optimistic mood as a new
decade begins.
How to use it: Contemporary technology and kids'
lifestyle designs are easy entry points for this
directional tone. It will also work well for packaging
and interiors.
